  1. Truck died 5 miles from home

Thank you. I love and will miss the EV platform but there needs to be a lot more chargers and the capability to charge faster before I will consider it.
  2. Truck died 5 miles from home

…and I’m out. Sold this am. Bye y’all. It’s been fun. Picking up an F150 hybrid Friday.
  3. NACS Adapter shipping delayed until September

Agreed. What would happen in the case of a fire while fast charging? Ford and your insurance company might point to the unapproved adapter, and refuse to compensate you. Will the adapter company step up and compensate you? Unlikely. Granted, the risk of a fire is low, but it is not zero.
  4. Shopping 2023 Lariat Lightning to replace ‘21 KR PB

I'm also interested in your take on the PowerBoost. My '22 Lariat ER with 21,000 miles is for sale on this site. Shopping for a PowerBoost. So, three questions: 1. How do you like the PowerBoost? 2. What year is it? 3. Wanna trade? (p.s. The Lightning is perfect for daily 120 mile use.)

  7. DCFC Hacking

I wasn’t talking about a hypothetical. if you have generator power you can use a credit card. And there is a lot to do that involves driving after a hurricane. Best vehicle to have after a hurricane is a gas or diesel truck with onboard generator. You can almost always get fuel to run it...
  8. DCFC Hacking

I have been through multiple hurricanes with the grid down. We are able to get gas because it is trucked in and the gas station has a rented generator running it. That is reality. Not sure what you are basing your experience on. The common scenario is that the electrical crews get some power...
  9. DCFC Hacking

You’re missing the point. One generator at a gas station can fuel hundreds of vehicles. The fuel trucked in can keep this up for weeks. If the grid is down and we all have electric vehicles, we are screwed in a few days.
  10. DCFC Hacking

I guess if no one had a generator this might be true. Also, if the grid is down you can truck in gas. You can’t truck in electricity.
  11. Battery Percentage Dropping at Random

How many of us are there? https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/truck-died-5-miles-from-home.19715/
  12. How often to run your ICE vehicle?

I hope no one on this thread who has an extra vehicle sitting around bought the Lightning in order to save the planet! I actually do know a couple who bought a third car to decrease their carbon footprint. ?ā€ā™‚ļø
  13. Using onboard scales to measure trailer tongue weight?

Texas Dan's method works once you calibrate as long as you don't have heavy stuff in the bed or back seat. When I had to balance a heavy boat on a new trailer, I took it to a truck stop with scales. Weigh the boat on the hitch, then off the hitch, with jack stand on the scale. The difference...
  14. Ah summer is here in the valley of the sun

A/C is solid. The ability to cool the cabin for 15-30’ before walking out to your hot truck in a parking lot is priceless. Regarding how to keep your HVB cool…and understanding it’s a splurge that may be out of reach…I insulated my garage and put a mini-split A/C in it about 6 or 7 years ago...
  15. Sand Driving

And yes, the less side wall you have the less effect airing down has. That’s why the off-roaders like 18’s. It still helps with low profile tires though.
  16. Sand Driving

Good corroboration. This morningā€˜s drive looking for leftover hurricane surf. Beryl pushed a bunch of stuff up to the dunes.
  17. Sand Driving

I have always put BFG All Terrain KO's on my vehicles after the first set wears off. I have the stock General Grabbers on this truck. It does well enough, and I can't compromise on highway mileage with heavy tires. Ford must have perfected the wheel slip computerization on this vehicle. I...
  18. Sand Driving

Really, really well. I was shocked how well it did, and I have driven maybe a dozen capable vehicles in sand.
  19. Sand Driving

I drive on sand 2-3 times a week. It all depends on the sand conditions. Last trip down the national seashore at low tide, mileage as good as on pavement. However, if you get in deep sand, you can drop well below 1 mile/kWh. (You will have to do the conversion!). I tried to get to Port...
  20. Does this area creak for anyone else?

My sunroof rattles a little. The cabin is so quiet that it's irritating to hear. I open and close the shade to make it go away but that only lasts a bit.
