  1. Update postponed due to low battery

I use acorn nuts for this. Had them laying around, and they work very well as "topper nuts".
  2. Software Update PT-25.13.12 : Charge Port Functionality & Cold Weather Performance

I did check with the dealer back then... I honestly can't remember but I think they might have replaced it.
  3. Software Update PT-25.13.12 : Charge Port Functionality & Cold Weather Performance

FYI for others' use: when after right the update I reconnected my ancillary electric stuff like the dash cam, the rat flashing motion deterrent and the aftermarket 12V battery Bluetooth monitor dongle, I saw that the 12V battery showed a 49% state of charge. This despite it being on the Clore...
  4. Software Update PT-25.13.12 : Charge Port Functionality & Cold Weather Performance

So after seven days and nine (9) tries to install this OTA update, I finally succeeded just now. Many tries with many sequence variants to get the 12V battery up to top charge and for it to stay there... using the Clore charging & supply functions, and the 120V overnight Level 1 charging, and...
  5. Cargo Trailer recomendations

IMHO trailer brakes are like Winter aka "Snow" tires... they aren't needed until they suddenly and unpredictably are needed. The 5% or so of unpredictable situations when it makes a difference, are akin to car insurance in my book.
  6. Front shock replacement ?

I strongly recommend the Eibach shocks. I have had them on for months now and couldn't be happier. FYI - I reused the OEM springs and set the Eibachs at the OEM Lightning height (i.e. the lowest shock circlip setting all around). Also - my Ford OEM shocks were all worn out, front and back...
  7. Add physical climate controls to Lightning with big screen???

Bruce, FYI I actually prefer the rows of hard physical buttons. It's one of the several reasons I chose my XLT 312A vice a higher trim Lightning. On my previous Ford Fusion Energi some years ago, the infotainment screen failed and all of a sudden I was out of options to adjust heating, air...
  8. Better off without BlueCruise

Not when I had to trade my Mach E... the Flash wasn't born yet.
  9. Better off without BlueCruise

I had BlueCruise (up to 1.2 eventually) on my 2022 Mach E. I don't have it on my XLT 312A, by my choice because after living through cold Winters with the Mach E's panoramic glass roof, I refused to buy another EV with a glass roof, and all Lightnings with solid roofs also lacked BlueCruise...
  10. Adding power mirrors to XLT

Just switch the painted caps with your old caps. Three Torx screws under the mirror glass, and You're done.
  11. Are 2022 models not getting any newer OTA updates?

FYI for the discussion in this thread about updates to the BCM, which now cannot be done DIY: I have been successful nudging my local dealer service techs (in a good dealership BTW) to update the BCM for me when I knew it had updates, and I then used this argument "pls help me as only a...
  12. Ford App 6.6.0 iOS & Android

I just got FP 6.6.0 on my Android. The new improved charge settings are on it, as per posts #19 and #21. My TOU charging times are unaffected. I don't use PAAK, so "no comment" on that.
  13. TPMS Question

All I have ever done with new TPMS (OEM TPMS) on my subsequent three Ford vehicles is just to drive the car once the new TPMS is mounted on a rotating wheel. The Ford OEM TPMS modules begin to self-sync with the Ford within a mile or so. This included me putting new TPMS units on used Ford...
  14. Has anyone been able to remove the LED lights?

O.K. I understand better now. Why not just disconnect the white wrap bars? I'm sure they each have a plug somewhere behind them. After all, a Pro trim only has the side edge ones, not the top one. Or, alternately, You could vinyl wrap them or stain them in black or whatever translucent color...
  15. How to precondition the battery for fast charging when your complementary advanced navigation has expired and in motion?

This function worked well in the Ford Mach E. Same factory, similar (I assume) software development and similar (again, I assume) hardware specifications... wassup Ford?
  16. My Lightning burned to the ground

Nice post with informative, aggregated data. I can't help but note the 60-foot walk from family home to family cars in the famed Ontario Winter. Frankly, I can imagine some teenager curses freezing in the brisk February air
  17. Anyone in the 200,000 mile club yet?

Dean, one of these days when I next visit Sonny Boy in Louisville I'll have to swing by southern Kentucky to check your mileage haha... maybe we'll stage a race in town
  18. My Lightning burned to the ground

I read somewhere in an authoritative source (no memory of it now) that Ford produced a total of just over 100 thousand Lightnings.
  19. Anyone in the 200,000 mile club yet?

I'm at 89,xxx... I'm sure I will hit 90k by March. I bought the truck new, a leftover 2023, in June 2004. I love this thing  not a single problem except for the traffic tickets {EDIT -- and worn-out OEM shocks all around}. The truck's hit the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Bonneville Salt...
