alconcolaroja09 you aren't really providing enough information:
A) is this a Tesla "NACS Partner" Supercharger location that actually accepts other EVs?
(only the Tesla APP can tell you this)
B) how are you ACTIVATING the Supercharger unit:
the Ford Pass APP? The Ford onscreen Charge...
I don't typically use 1pd unless in extreme traffic conditions, which in my rural area is not very often... but, even then, I had a Georgia State Trooper pull me over, feet from my home, as he saw no 'brake lights' thru the past 5 traffic lights thru town... well, it's because I had never USED...
as an agent, I've had several customers with a stolen vehicle over my career... it's NEVER a good outcome, at least at first... thankfully, this doesn't happen often in my agency.
There is no 'good' outcome to a stolen vehicle:
First, the insurer is certainly going to 'wait' until the...
- it sounds like this is not a Ford LIGHTNING issue, but an OWNER issue
- no matter WHAT EV you drive, or travel with, YOU have to plan accordingly... blaming Ford or Google or anyone else is naive... "(of a person or action) showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment."
- the vast...
Several notes about using Tesla Superchargers:
A) yes, you have to get used to the 'no screen' unit, for those of us CCS owners, where no 'visual' evidence of activation or charging are evident. It can seem awkward. You have to rely on your APP, whether the native Tesla APP, or your FOrd...
- we downsized from a diesel-pusher Class A Motorhome, having traveled across the country, to all contiguous states, most all provinces of Canada, and ALASKA, and loved it, to a 'tiny' 20' single-axle 3,800lb Camper, with queen-walkaround, and dining room slide... behind the LIGHTNING Pro SR...
Ford has no insertion into what 'adapter' you might use, where you charge, what EVSE you charge with, what stations you use.... nothing. None of that has anything to do with any vehicle warranty. . . No more than where you buy your fuel for your gas vehicles.
I'm not sure that disabling Plug-N-Charge would solve this issue, as the truck is certainly looking at a charging session activation at the moment you plug ANY connector into the charge port... "PLUG N CHARGE" as actually an additional 'feature', and is purely to resolve having to do anything...
There can be some confusion between Ford's 'Plug N Charge' activation protocol, and Tesla's own 'Plug N Charge' normal activation...
A) Since Tesla units have no screen, input, or buttons, there is only ONE WAY to activate the unit: by PLUGGING IN. It then 'reads' the software and approves...
My PRO did not come with a 'wireless' charging, but, that's o.k., as I'd rather not have my phone laying down in a hole taking up space for other 'necessities', like candy... : )
I simply use an off-the-shelf stand-up USB_C Wireless Charger and used 3m mounting tape underneath it's base to...
Let's break down this 'issue', as described by the original post:
A) the Ford Mobile EVSE works perfectly fine in temperate/even warm/hot temps. It draws in the neighborhood of 29.5/30 amps, at 240v, maximum. It may say it is 'rated' at 32 amps, but that is a rating, only.
B) the owner is...
With all my miles, and 1/2 of those while towing, I never really pay attention much to 'cost', since it's likely many times you have little control over where you can/need to stop to charge along the route.
Although, I've found that Tesla Superchargers have come out on the lower side...
the original post refers to 'never paying to charge'... but....
actually, you are paying an extremely high cost to 'charge', with your expensive solar investment, although I imagine what you are really saying is that you hope to never have to pay 'the man', the utility company, for charging...
I just towed our 3,800lb single-axle camper down to the Florida Gulf for a few beautiful days, about 250 miles each way... and enjoyed every moment of it in my PRO with Standard Battery pack...
I averaged about 1.1-1.2 mi/kwh since I drive conservatively while towing... and had plenty of DC...
from using mine just over the last few days, I'll say that I have established a 'procedure' to handle the task:
Plugging in:
A) start with plugging the ADAPTER into the charge port first
B) while plugging in the NACS from Tesla, HOLD down the front 'latch' while you do, and wiggle the NACS...
