Thanks for sharing your experience. I need the 240V for my mini-split heat pump that is hard wired so this type of installation is perfect for my needs. It is really nice to have backup power without a noisy and polluting generator.
Heated seats would be really nice! Since it's not all that cold where I live it's not a huge issue for me. But I'll be taking my Ioniq 5 for any longer cold weather drives with the heat pump and heated seats and steering wheel.
I find the Lightning regen to be equivalent to the "level 3" on my Ioniq 5. It is definitely less aggressive than the "I-pedal" in the Ioniq 5. Adjustable levels would be nice but I only ever use 1-pedal so I'm used to the deceleration. When slowing down too fast I just keep my foot on...
My truck has been great so far- just a few minor issues with the frunk- but smooth power and a great driving experience. With the XLT SR I don't have all the tech of a platinum but the price of $55K was reasonable and I traded my 2016 F150 in for $23.6 so really only about $25K out of pocket...
My XLT SR replaced my 2016 Ecoboost which got 24 mpg lifetime and never any trouble. With my driving almost all within 50 miles the SR is perfect and no time spent charging as it fully charges overnight with just a 30 amp 240V circuit. I also like the 12" screen better- it is more integrated-...
Get a new panel, rated 200 amps. And remember that not all "200 amp" panels are equal. The QO panels from Square D (not the Homeline) work well for me. I have 200 amp service but also a 50 amp breaker feeding power from my solar panels. So my electrician said my panel is rated 225 amps-...
Ioniq 5 offers four settings for regen so it's quite flexible- there is no fatigue as you just toggle the paddles. The big difference for Ioniq 5 is that 1-pedal is less efficient because it keeps the front motor engaged- Ioniq 5 in Eco mode will generally have the front motor disengaged for...
Tesla did refund my $100 CT reservation without any problems once I found the three year old email- I think the CyberTruck will be made eventually but will cost $100K or so for the first three years if Tesla can find enough rich customers to buy it. Now that I have a real F150 with electric...
Tesla was 50% higher than a comparable MachE.
My 2016 F150 XL supercab: $361 per year
2022 Lightning XLT SR: $461 per year
Traded the 2016 for $23,600 and this truck was $55,000 so the increase seems reasonable. Identical coverage for both trucks and low since they are listed as "pleasure...
I pay $461 per year with Erie for my Lightning XLT SR, listed as "pleasure less than 8,500 miles" This is only slightly more than my previous truck, the 2016 F150 XL supercab
Thanks for that information- I'll give it a try- but it shows how the actual moving shifter is an unnecessary component. Just a simple rotary knob or stalk would be better- doesn't the MachE use a rotary knob? I drove one of those but it's been a while.
I've had my truck for two months- the shifter is definitely a leftover remnant from other trucks- it makes no sense at all- I never fold it down as I've heard there are problems with that- a simple rotary knob or even the little stalk from the steering wheel like the Ioniq 5 has would be fine...
My frunk would not open yesterday when I hit the keyfob button initially- then it did open after the vehicle was unlocked. Failed to close twice using the button on the Frunk- it made it almost closed- then beeped and went up again!
The second time I manually forced it down as it tried to...
That is an amazing price for DC fast charging! But that utility is still making money. Rates are going up here in PJM (Pennsylvania Jersey Maryland) area but last year the wholesale price for electricity was 4.2 cents per kWh. That's what my local utility paid me for the excess generated...
Even the 240V, 30Amp circuit should be sufficient if you are visiting overnight. I found a 30A dryer outlet in my in-laws garage. That works perfectly for the Split-Volt 24A charger- just make sure you get the matching plug, newer dryers use 14-30, older models are 10-30. It is much more...
That is an amazing low cost for electricity! I sold back 4500 kWh to my local utility last year and they paid me 4.2 cents per kWh which was the wholesale rate for PJM here on the east coast last year. I do pay the monthly $4.92 customer charge but still get a check each year so far. With...
Thanks for sharing your experience. Ian was mostly just rain and wind when it reached us in the Mid-Atlantic. Looks like your truck could have powered your house for several more days.
My Lightning feels very familiar to me as this is my fourth F150. Much better handling and of course the acceleration is great. I'm glad that Ford stuck with the buttons that are easy on the steering wheel and for the heat and AC. So nice to not hunt through a screen for every little...
