Sorry to hear about your problems. My system was installed a few weeks ago and does work. I had my YouTube sponsor, Qmerit do the installation, and while we needed to contact Ford with some questions, it worked the first time we powered it up.
I'll be posting a video on the installation in a...
Thanks for posting. Yeah, it's long - 1 hr total, but I had to give the guests time to talk, and I don't like editing some content from my interviews. I always hated when people would edit my interview and only post what they wanted so I kept the entire interview in the video.
That's really when the additional cooling loop will be of benefit when you're really stressing the battery by towing long distances or it's very hot outside, north of 100F. If you're charging after normal driving and it's not exceptionally hot, it won't make any difference.
Yes, you'll get the boost as long as the battery isn't too hot. You can unplug and plug back in and get an additional boost for a shorter period, though. However, I don't recommend it because 1) there's a reason Ford only lets the vehicle accept the high charge rate for the set period, so you're...
I've had like 10 emails from followers asking me to document the difference - that's what I mean by the big deal because there seems to be a lot of interest in how much difference the additional cooling loop men's for charging. In my limited experience so far, it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Yes, it did. A lot of people seem to be making a bigger deal about the extra cooling loop than they should be. I've charged Lightning now which does not have the Max towing and the charging profile was the same as with Max towing. I'm no sure where everyone got the idea that it was going to make...
So I don't know if I'll have a comprehensive video on it, but I have charged many times on 150 kW EA units so I know what to expect. There's actually VERY little difference in the charging times. The 150 kW units take about 2 minutes longer to charge from 20% to 80%.
But that's 150 kW units...
Hey everyone,
I finally have my Lightning DC fast-charging deep dice video analysis up for those interested:
F-150 Lightning DC fast charging deep dive analysis
I charged my Lightning nearly 20 times on 350 kW (and a few 150 kW) DC fast chargers to gather the data for this. Enjoy!
I believe the main reason ford has partnered with SunRun is that they probably wanted a 1-stop shopping experience for Lightning customers. SunRun sells solar, Qmerit doesn't, they are just installers. I believe Ford wanted to have Lightning customers deal with only 1 company for solar, IBP...
I actually had it done at a shop that always tints my windows. I don't have the patience (probably or the skills) for that.
Yes, but I don't know if he would want to do another one! It took him all day and he said it was way harder than he expected. You can try though. Custom Concepts in...
They just installed it, but my tint guy was cursing me all day. Evidently, it was harder than he expected. I gave him an extra $50 (maybe he was just playing me for a tip?)
Mine is actually rated at 32-amps. I haven't needed to use it yet, actually. However, I fully expect it to deliver 30 to 32-amps continuously, until the vehicle is at a high state of charge.
I would have liked to talk exclusively about charging but I wanted to address a variety of topics. I will have the opportunity to do this again with Darren. Plus, it wasn't a surprise to me, I knew what the displays were going to show for over a year now, I wanted to try to ask him mostly about...
