My knee jerk reaction was to grab my pitchfork and soapbox to tell you that you can't charge your truck through the frunk outlets...but what you've done is bloody genius. So simple and in a decade of EV ownership never once thought to hide my charger.
I'll put my pitchfork away and return to...
No you don’t have to.
1) If you find pull through spots, these are the perfect solution. Flying J, Pilot will often have these.
2) In the absence of a pull through spots, find something that’s open and accessible - not as much of a concern with a 18’ but it helps.
3) I have often been able to...
The rule of thumb is going to be 1.0mi/kWh as a safe bet.
Ive gotten as high as 1.7mi/kWh and as low as 0.6mi/kWh but it’s warm so 1.0 is a good starting point.
At 160 miles - assuming a SR pro, I’d assume you can get about 90-100miles of range. The biggest concern is going to be when the...
The Ford hurts the most though. It’s great for 2nd hand buyers!
Assuming same ordering and deposit timeframes, a 2022 Rivian R1T had a price of $78k loaded and has a trade in of roughly $45k. A 2022 F-150 Lariat ER loaded was about $82k and has a trade in value of roughly $35k.
Everytime I see...
There’s too many scenarios to account for, and it all depends on what your dealer wanted to do. Some dealers take delivery as a fleet vehicle, service, loaner, etc and that would start the clock. Others just keep it in fleet and drive it with dealer tags, demo it at events.
If you think your...
@Maquis called it out.
That said, you can still control the Gen3s to load share via the WiFi just on individual branch circuits to prevent overloading. Or if your area hasn't adopted the code, if you don't get inspection, then that would certainly be a YMMV situation for daisy chaining.
Just an FYI - it’s now against code to daisy chain them. I had Gen 1s that shared a circuit with comms, but the Gen 3s operate in dedicated circuits due to the code change.
You’re able to program with yours? My blinker works for monitoring, and but it doesn’t allow programming. I had to buy a dedicated wired cable to program.
The concern is the tire specs are incorrect.
With a 42PSI label and a 44PSI max, that's not a lot of headroom. With just a solo driver in the truck, probably not a huge concern. When I'm towing a 30'/7000lb trailer, I'd rather have the head room for the safety of my family and those around...
I had a spare set of 18" OEM wheels lying around and figured I would try to use them on my Lariat ER which came with 20" OEM wheels. I didn't want to mess with ForScan so I opted for the 275/70R18 version of the Toyos. Quite frankly, it was the only tire that would work without going to a LT...
Me: [Comes home with a new table saw, air compressor, and welder]
Wife: What are you doing?
Me: It’s for when we have a power outage, I need to pulse the battery on the truck so it doesn’t go bad.
I’m going to strongly echo this.
I purchased 2 Lightnings. One from a local dealer, one from out of state. The local dealer had been servicing my newer, out of state one since I purchased it. Recently the dealership changed ownership and since then, they have not been willing to service my...
It’s not about bypassing code, but having the right equipment to meet it. It’s cheaper equipment when you don’t have to transfer the nuetral too. But there is other equipment capable of it.
I wasn’t familiar with the company or equipment so I had to look it up.
In my reading the problem is really the code, and the automatic transfer switch. Their own installation guide references NFPA 70-250, so I would use that in my response.
The agate (ATS) has a removable jumper to bond...
Different car and battery chemistry. But I have a 10 year old Tesla with over 200,000 miles on it that has been driven much harder than you’ve described. It’s on the original battery with 85% of the original battery capacity.
IMO, the battery concerns are mostly overblown - recalls aside.
With...
They are, but nothing is 100%. If you get significant water intrusion it may be pitched incorrectly. The installation instructions specify a pitch to allow water to drain properly away from the bed.
Step 1: Plug the trailer into the 30A.
Step 2: Plug the truck into an outdoor outlet of your trailer.
Step 3: Argue with the ranger about how you’re not charging the truck from the outlet, you’re just powering the trailer.
Step 4: Get banned from the campground.
