I am not saying it is not a factor, but the weight difference of a 1,000 lbs and the wind resistance difference on a 100 mile tow might increase milage by 20 miles further they could have traveled.
Trust me, i really want a Lighting over a whistle pig motor hybrid but since towing is all i do...
Yes and no, they didn't tow far enough for wind resistance to be that big of a factor. Their speed really wasn't that high plus they even dropped speed when becoming more concerned. 100 miles and to drain the battery to 9% for 6,000 lbs not good. Now for 10,000 lbs not bad but still less than...
This was a great video that showed what i wanted to see, real life towing. My primary reason for having a truck is to tow my bass boat, 5,000 lbs. I don't commute, most of my lakes are 120 miles round trip. I thought the Lightning would work but i am rethinking this as the mileage is not good...
That is good to know. Most of my lakes are about 120 round trip. Anything else is over 100 one way but with charging options on the way to top off. Thanks for the info.
What is the weight of your trailer? My bass boat i believe is a little lighter at 5,000 lbs. Defiantly less wind resistance but at back road speeds i am not sure how much it will make a difference vs weight. I am hoping to get 150 miles on a charge, realistic yet to be determine.
I am looking at solar for my house in NH and every solar company i mention SunRun to says the same thing check their service ratings. It is horrible and they are right. I did contact them about a complete system but i have not heard a pep from them in 2 months.
Oneguynick - What options do you have, extended range battery, max tow package? I think the battery is standard on your truck. 83 miles on a full charge seems horrible on a full charge. I was hoping half the distance of a full charge of 150 miles.
