Tesla gives you reliability, a large number of charges per site, a fair price, and a great footprint across the US. Relying on these other guys is a risk (chargers down, few stalls, bunch of apps needed...) and IMO, they need an incentive to draw people to them.
I altered my plans based on how good the experience was in the morning. That f'ed me in the A on my return leg and added 2 hours at that single charging stop. Never again.
Each Tesla charger charged at 125-150kw and was at maybe 20% occupancy. Also, Tesla was $.45 / kW. EA was $.72 ? ?
EA in Baker was, I was lusting after the Tesla chargers there that are locked to Tesla only. In the AM, EA was a breeze with 12 of 12 operational stalls and 178kw charge rate. On the return leg, 6 of 12 chargers were offline, and there was a line of 12 people. But at 8% I was stuck. Was only...
Did some truck shit last week. Bought a Bobcat, so a quick 15 hour round trip trip from LA to Vegas towing an empty trailer out, and a Bobkitten back.
1.4 miles per kW average @ 60 mph
656 miles
106 degrees
4 charging stops (2 EA 2 Tesla)
8 Tesla chargers blocked by trailer
1 Burrito eaten

Today to operate the truck over a span of only 500 miles, I needed:
The key fob
A smart phone
A FordpASS account
An invite to FordpASS from the owner
An Evgo account
A Tesla Account
Turns out that GM Ultium powered by Evgo needs a different account... So a GM Ultium account
A credit card despite...
He didn't know. He uses his truck locally and didn't know that app at all.
I guess I have to install an app (Ford pass). Then I have to get him to add me as a user to not factory reset his vehicle like FordpASS wants me to do.
All because an app on the truck doesn't work. That's retarded...
Got it. Don't use the app Ford put there, download more apps and use them on Android auto.
Not sure why I thought he could hand me a car key and the vehicle would just work... It's just an F150 after all, right??
Long time Ford Owner... First time Ford borrower from friend...
About to undertake a road trip and I hit the Public Charging app on the Sync screen in my buddies truck and this is what I get.
It's cool, I'll click advanced and be on my way since they fired the interns that pay the SSL...
They haven't logged in in over a month, and only a handful of times explaining how they're gonna be better this calendar year.
Interpret that however you choose...
Now you're finally part of the Lightning owners club.
Enjoy a mediocre dealer experience, the possibility of a rental car, a new shifter/battery module/or computer, and not having your vehicle for between 2 days and a month.
Mine never leaked in the first 2 years, so that's a positive.
On the other hand, the middle tension bar rattled and was replaced, the roller shade jumped track, the accordion pieces that cover the mechanism came off about every 90 days because they're held on with the same hope that Ford used...
That sounds about right. The 2024s haven't really been around that long. Takes the software team a bit of time to update massive changes like the one you mentioned.
