Yeah, sucks not to have the truck for a week, but I do count it as a positive to be getting a couple new modules installed. While I don't like doing it normally, I think placing some stress on the battery (running down to less than 5% and up to 100%) before I get out of warranty at 8 years/100k...
So, as a follow-up to my SOH dropping from 100% to 95.5% over the course of 8-10 weeks...
The truck is now at the dealership and after a day of diagnosis, they said it needs two "battery arrays", which I assume means battery modules. Likely 3-4 days to get it all put back together and back in...
Build date is July 22 and I've got barely 30k miles now. I did check for the recall but my truck isn't included, so I'm guessing just a bad module. However, I might bring up this issue anyway to see if they can give me a double-check on the electrode misalignment thing. I would not be sad to...
Regarding my sudden drop from 100% SOH to 95.5% in the last couple months, I decided to drain the battery to ~5% and then charge to 100% to help reset the BMS stats as suggested earlier in this thread. I'll try to be as succinct as possible in what happened next.
06/16 4:00pm - Drained battery...
My dates are estimates of when I thought I saw those numbers. I did get some recall software changes done on May 5th, so the timing is in the ballpark.
That's a great idea. I have only taken it to about 20% once and I took it to 100% about 4 months ago on a short trip, and then immediately began the drive. I do live in Las Vegas, and it started hitting 105F a day here, so that may have had an effect too.
I also recently had a couple recalls...
Hmm. Not sure that sounds right. That would mean my battery has lost nearly 11% of it's total capacity which would definitely not seem normal. When I look up data in Carscanner, it clearly shows a difference between SOC and displayed SOC, so the buffer still exists.
Getting nervous with my 2022 Lariat LR battery SOH since it started jumping all over the place.
(dates are estimates from when I first noticed it)
04/01/25 - SOH 100%
04/15/25 - SOH 99.5%
05/01/25 - SOH 97.5%
05/15/25 - SOH 98%
06/13/25 - SOH 96%
4% loss in 10 weeks seems a little extreme...
Would love to hear some more detail about what this actually does. Took about 8 minutes and after various noises in both the back and the front, it was all done.
As a Las Vegas resident that wants a more straightforward path to Reno in my Lariat ER, I wholeheartedly agree that we need some better chargers in Beatty and Tonopah..
Thanks FlasherZ. Did they actually mention this somewhere, or just a theory? If the former, then I guess there should be no expectation of 2022 owners to get an estimated range bump in the computer.
I'm consumed with figuring out how much mileage I can get out of the SR XLT I have (that sticker for the SR was from me on Facebook). I'm also hoping that more mileage is "available" to us 2022 SR owners since Ford has announced 240 miles of range for 2023 owners.
Where is this range coming...
