  1. Farley says Ford is behind in EV (vs. Tesla and China) so Ford can't afford to "walk away from EVs."

Make better software. Software cost scales inverse with unit sales. So you have to go big. Think Microsoft, Amazon, Apple. Never going to be able to afford good software for low volume products.
  2. Ford considers ending F-150 Lightning

Ford currently sells the most popular EV pickup truck product in America. Pickups are one of the best selling categories of vehicles. The future is EVs. The future of pickups are EVs. Slowing down or halting their program would let everyone else catch up. What a bad idea. Guess what the...
  3. Still not happy with camera auto-switching when backing trailers.

Ford engineers are wrong if they think that people can line up a trailer hitch on first try, every attempt and then just put their truck into park. Even those experienced at the task sometimes take two or three attempts. Even with the camera.
  4. Still not happy with camera auto-switching when backing trailers.

Some transitions still are instant. Like when you shift into Park. Would be better if it just left the camera alone. For those suggesting the parking brake to avoid the rolling, sure that might help, but hard to know it worked without the camera staying visible.
  5. Still not happy with camera auto-switching when backing trailers.

Was that time of the year to pull the boats out of the lake. Was reminded once again how disappointed I am in the uselessness of the hitch camera on my F150. Every time I go to park or switch to forward, it changes the camera view. When I am trying to stop and line up the hitch it commonly...
  6. F-150 Lightning is the best selling EV pickup in the U.S.

Tried out a new small shop in town to have a leaky tire on my F150 fixed. The mechanics there were somewhat unfamiliar with the Lightning and asked me a bunch of questions about it. First they were like "didn't even realize that was electric when you dropped it off. It looks just like an...
  7. October Forum Survey Results

Here is what you can do to help put pressure on to get those software updates we keep hammering Ford about. Invite some of the Software Engineers to make a video with you demonstrating some aspect of the Truck. But really its a chance to make them experience the issue directly, themselves...
  8. $69 EV Registration Fee. Increases are annoying. What about your state?

Note that EV's still pay no Federal road taxes. That may change under the current Big-Oil funded congress. Several proposals are on the table: Some go far beyond what the average gas vehicle owner pays in federal road taxes (currently only $0.18 per gallon). Per google's AI: "No federal road...
  9. Lightning Experience Improvement Suggestions

On the topic of suggestions, how about a "Never F-ing Change the Camera from What I Specifically Selected" mode. Ford engineers should try hooking up a trailer on a slope sometime. When you think you are aligned, and put the truck into park, it of course rolls another inch or two. Would be...
  10. Old School Lightning Badge

Hood emblem belongs on the hood. (best image I could find)
  11. Lightning Experience Improvement Suggestions

Enhancing the value of something the customer already paid for seems counterintuitive. But it builds brand loyalty and lets a company that does it bank on that future value. Tesla shipped the Cybertruck without the software implemented yet for several off-road functionalities. But Tesla buyers...
  12. Lightning Experience Improvement Suggestions

Exactly the same use case - when the Truck is used as a standby power source for your house is the situation people run into issues with.
  13. Raptor vs Lightning: the numbers

Its also a law in most states to stay in attendance.
  14. Small adjustment to increase lightning sales: cool and heat the frunk

Easiest to just use the back seat.
  15. Small adjustment to increase lightning sales: cool and heat the frunk

I would never use the frunk to haul groceries as I pull into my garage with the frunk up against the back wall. The Frunk is an inconvenient place to access when my Truck is parked in the garage. I just load the groceries in the back seat which is much more accessible.
  16. Raptor vs Lightning: the numbers

EV charging is unattended - you don't have to stay at the vehicle. ICE refueling is mandatory to attend the pump while pumping (in almost all states). Those 5-10 minutes of your life are completely wasted just waiting on that pump. Maybe the other passengers can go in and buy some snacks or...
  17. Raptor vs Lightning: the numbers

They have those great ads on the screens at some pumps. Love wasting my life ticking away to the droning sound of the pump and those ads. When charging an EV on a road trip, you can get some stuff done: Eat a sit-down meal. Take a walk Walk your dog Take a nap Watch a TV show, or part of a...
  18. Body differences between EV and ICE

Its all about the aero efficiency for highway range.
  19. Ford (and Brian) want your feedback on F-150 Lightning Forum experience

When we suggest fixes and improvements to the software that would be simple to make, it would be great to have confidence that feedback is being used to improve the product. Software updates are too spare and do not improve anything significantly. "Full View Not Available" was reported years...
  20. Is Anybody Happy With Their Lightning?

One negative of having an EV truck is all my buddies who are not yet EV fans give me shit about my "golf cart" and all the time I waste charging it. I just keep telling people its the best pickup I have ever owned, tows better than my previous Chevy 2500, and it only takes 10 seconds to unplug...
