  1. Unsolicited Shoutout to Franklin's Charging

Holy crap!!! Reading comprehension challenges on a Sunday evening. My bad!
  2. Route Zero looking for Lightning owners

How are you guys getting from Santa Fe to Kansas City? taking I-25 up to Denver and then taking a right to head east onto I-70, or backtracking from Santa Fe to catch I-40 to Oklahoma City and then turning north onto I-35?
  3. What features do YOU hope get added in a future S/W update?

My new favorite post on this forum. I have no interest in any update that introduces vampire drain, so no sentry mode for me. My request would be an improved charging curve so we see higher charging speeds between 80% and 90%. 50kW charging speeds after 80% is ridiculous especially with how...
  4. Move Charge Port to Right Side to Be Tesla SuperCharger-Friendly?

I can confirm the Taycan drivers side charging port is only for a J1772 plug. The passenger side charging port will cover both a J1772 and DC fast charging. As you can see in my picture below, sometimes it is a stretch to get even a traditional EA charging cable out to my cars charging port...
  5. Out of Spec Kyle explains how voltage and amperage work together to slow down charging cars with higher voltage batteries / architecture

I have done this drive at least 6 times a year since 2019 in a CCS vehicle. The nice thing now is that there are new chargers in Show Low and Payson so you can take the shortcut from Holbrook south west to Scottsdale instead of going to Winslow before veering south. I have never had any...
  6. Out of Spec Kyle explains how voltage and amperage work together to slow down charging cars with higher voltage batteries / architecture

Not sure EA throttles their 350kW chargers at temps below 40 degrees F. I hit 265kW in my Taycan in 10 degrees F last month in Trinidad, CO. Also, I hit well over 200kW at EA chargers in New Mexico - Wagon Wheel, Santa Fe, and Gallup. Plus hit these high speeds at the new charger in Show...
  7. Tesla Supercharger Membership Launched @ $12.99 / month. First video of Lightning charging at Supercharger CCS Magic Dock

Super large EV's towing stuff fitting into very tight charging spaces. The Tesla kool aid drinkers will love that! I am waiting for that Youtube footage!
  8. Tesla Supercharger Membership Launched @ $12.99 / month. First video of Lightning charging at Supercharger CCS Magic Dock

A little competition is good for everyone, so hopefully it does get Electrify America to spend a little more money on keeping chargers in working order. I realize it is hard to keep a charger up and running in a remote rural part of the US like Colby, KS or Amarillo, TX, but spend the damn...
  9. Tesla Supercharger Membership Launched @ $12.99 / month. First video of Lightning charging at Supercharger CCS Magic Dock

Out here in the Rocky Mountain west we have reliable Electrify America or state operated CCS coverage everywhere Tesla is, except for parts of Wyoming, a couple parts of eastern Montana, and on I-25 between Albuquerque and Las Cruces. These CCS charging gaps will be filled within the next...
  10. First Tesla Supercharger with ‘Magic Dock’ CCS Adapter for non-Tesla electric cars spotted in the US. Charges up a Rivian

Even Tesla sees the upcoming $hit show at some of their chargers. How the hell is a Hummer EV going to fit in a single spot without blocking either parking spot beside it? I am going to have to keep an eye out for busier Tesla supercharger locations in the greater Denver area and then try to...
  11. First Tesla Supercharger with ‘Magic Dock’ CCS Adapter for non-Tesla electric cars spotted in the US. Charges up a Rivian

I forgot to mention, Oklahoma, so thank you for that. I used a great 200kW Francis Energy charger in Norman a couple of weeks while on my Lightning road trip. Francis Energy was also awarded the state of New Mexico program a couple of years ago, but are delayed in completing the full roll...
  12. First Tesla Supercharger with ‘Magic Dock’ CCS Adapter for non-Tesla electric cars spotted in the US. Charges up a Rivian

In the US, VW settlement funds went to create Electrify America, to individual states, fines to the federal government, and to people who were affected by VW's bull$hit claims about their cars. Of the initial $3bn that went to create Electrify America, a little less than half of those...
  13. First Tesla Supercharger with ‘Magic Dock’ CCS Adapter for non-Tesla electric cars spotted in the US. Charges up a Rivian

Some states are using the NEVI money as the "cherry on top" to work they have already started with the VW settlement money. There are at least a dozen state funded fast chargers already installed and live throughout Colorado. New Mexico has a number installed and live with another dozen that...
  14. First Tesla Supercharger with ‘Magic Dock’ CCS Adapter for non-Tesla electric cars spotted in the US. Charges up a Rivian

Make no mistake, I am one of those Musk hating people. However, I also bought 4 different Tesla's before the Model 3 or Model Y rolled out and I am one of those people who bought Tesla products while the future of the company was still in doubt. Even though I am over Tesla, I have spent more...
  15. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program - additional info

Why do you think the route from Hot Springs, AR to Houston looks risky? Looks very easy to make if you just deviate a little out of your way. You can easily hit Hope, then the Mt. Pleasant, TX charger to cut over to Ennis on I-45 and then it is a straight shot south with multiple chargers...
  16. First Tesla Supercharger with ‘Magic Dock’ CCS Adapter for non-Tesla electric cars spotted in the US. Charges up a Rivian

It may be an easy retrofit, but it has to be the right station lay out to work for a Lightning. Cables are way too short if you have park nose in directly in front of a supercharger.
  17. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program - additional info

I thought this was interesting:: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2023/02/heres-how-the-government-plans-to-make-ev-chargers-common-and-reliable/ In addition, there is a link in the article to individual state plans for rolling out new EV charging infrastructure. Posting this is definitely not...
  18. First Tesla Supercharger with ‘Magic Dock’ CCS Adapter for non-Tesla electric cars spotted in the US. Charges up a Rivian

The good thing about that particular location is that in a Lightning you can always pull up in the grass parallel to the chargers on the back side to plug in. Pretty sure that would piss off the Tesla kool aid types, but if you need a charge in a pinch I guess you could figure it out. Should...
  19. Denver to Houston - first Lightning road trip observations

We have had similar experiences lately since I did not have a single issue charging on either leg of my trip. I alternated between using plug and charge, and using the Electrify America app. Either way was pretty quick in getting the charging process started. I enjoyed my road trip in the...
  20. Denver to Houston - first Lightning road trip observations

I totally hear you. This was the first road trip in the Lightning, so it was all about learning about truck's efficiency at different speeds and different situations. I am used to long road trips in my Taycan, so it was a mental shift in driving a huge truck that is less efficient and the...
