  1. MotorTrend 2022 Lightning Lariat 3-Year Verdict: Plenty to Love, Little to Hate

At PNM in New Mexico I pay $.03 per kWh plus about $.04 in taxes and fees when charging between 10PM and 5AM. That works out to less than $.035 per mile. So for 10,000 miles I would pay $350 in Electricity. If I had a gas F150 with equal power that gets a combined EPA 15 mpg at the current gas...
  2. New to EV. Trying to decide between SR and ER to keep 200k+ miles with 100 mile daily commute.

I have the PRO with all options except the large battery. It's now 3 years old This was the first Lightning sold in NM. Only problem in 24 K miles, is the rear half shaft replacement for a leak. It's quiet as a Mercedes S class and rides like an old Cadillac. Very little degradation to the...
  3. Do you use your Lightning for an interesting work application? Tell us about it.

I was doing an electrical update to the 7 unit apartment building in Mammoth Lakes, CA. This is a ski resort in the Sierra Nevada mountains at 7000 feet. We needed to remove the main electrical panel and replace it with 2- 400 amp main panels. This required SCE, the electricity provider to...
  4. Vampire Drain challange

Both were turned off automatically at my house. There is a setting to shut it off at different locations.
  5. Vampire Drain challange

OK, so here is my back of the napkin or should say paper of my 17 day test between my 2022 Rivian R1S with the old large battery rated 131 kWh, my 2018 Tesla model 3 with a 75 kWh battery and my 2022 Ford lightning Pro with standard 98 kWh battery. So while I was working on my house, I didn’t...
  6. Round trip - Los Angeles to Mammoth Lakes, 5 day daily driver in Mammoth

Make sure you have fun when you’re up in Mammoth. After a storm I like hitting the empty parking lots and see what I can do. So far it’s been extremely capable up there. I remember going off road down by the Green church in my BMW, X5 and getting stuck for a couple hours.
  7. Round trip - Los Angeles to Mammoth Lakes, 5 day daily driver in Mammoth

One thing we should all remember when parking on a slope that’s icy in Mammoth. I believe only one wheel has electronic brake, if that one’s on ice the car will roll. It’s happened to me before so I put a block under the tire where there’s pavement showing. My truck almost slid down the...
  8. Round trip - Los Angeles to Mammoth Lakes, 5 day daily driver in Mammoth

From when I calculate, it looks like you have the standard range battery not the extended range. I used to do that trip back-and-forth from LA to Mammoth in my Ford lightning standard range pro. Before we got the adapter, it was a pain in the ass to drive up there. Electrify America was always a...
  9. Just crossed 70,000 miles since January 2023: Charging Stats & Costs

Good job ??. Just imagine if you were in my shoes paying $.03 yes, 3 cents a kWh. That's $751.03 for electricity. The asterisk is that rate is only from 10pm to 5 am. Just a little over 1 cent a mile. To put it another way take 71,000 miles, divided by 18 mpg which is pushing it in a gas F-150...
  10. Mojave, CA. - Tesla Station NOT working

The EA station in Mojave is back in business as of last week when I drove by. I think they had a solar problem and was taking down the panels and beams. The photo was from Aug 22
  11. Los Angeles to Mammoth Lakes

I have done it numerous times in my Pro SR using EA only in the winter. Going up that hill to Mammoth Lake takes about 1.1 kWh/mi. Don’t plan on Coso Junctuon EA to work. They have been down numerous times in the past. I charge to as close to 100% as possible i Mojave then at the EA at Vons in...
  12. 5 minute $9 Tailgate Mod - matte black tailgate letters w/ beveled edges

Here is what I found on Ebay. Seems to be good so far. Imagine catching up to this in the dark, you know Zeus is in front. These are reflective thick vinyl ...
  13. Road tripping from Los Angeles area to Roswell NM via the I40 question.

Using my Rivian map planner it shows Albuquerque, Milan and Socorro New Mexico as the only central NM Tesla Supercharges open to Ford or Rivian adapters. Kingman in West Az is the only one along I40 in AZ. Otherwise about the only charging in NM is mostly EA stations. Tucumcari, Santa Rosa...
  14. Road tripping from Los Angeles area to Roswell NM via the I40 question.

Here is my take: I do the LA to ABQ every few months. I have a SR Lightning and a Rivian. Its alway best to have a backup plan and when available charge back up to 80% or more when available. Do invest in a tesla to J1772 adapter so when you stop overnight pick a hotel with a Tesla destination...
  15. Favorite model year and why?

2022. I bought one of the first ones in New Mexico. Anti-blue is the color and against the New Mexico rainbows it stands out. I was able to buy the Pro model with the tow package and pretty much everything you could buy on the Pro at the time and out the door with the tax credit it was under...
  16. Anyone need a NACS adapter?

Trust but verify. Why not charge a deposit and refund when returned and shipping paid. Where are you located? I have a SR Pro Lightning. Driving 300 miles from LA to Mammoth can be tough with EA chargers.
  17. California New/Take off XLT 18" Factory Wheels/Tires/TPMS $750

Where are you located? I am interested. Live in the west valley
  18. Request: A concise answer to how to connect Pro Power to a generator inlet

How did you get that info? I wonder if LADWP will allow this installation down here? Who actually installs the collar?
  19. Request: A concise answer to how to connect Pro Power to a generator inlet

Here is some cold water on the subject. Look down the list for the Ford F-150 which should be similar to the lightning and they say this collar will not work. Love the idea of a simple meter collar. https://www.generlink.com/files/137310232.pdf
