  1. Interesting Article On Current Guardrails Vs EVs

I would prefer two parallel guard rails maybe 6 feet apart rather then a single extra-strength rail, and yes my Lightning ER weighs almost 7,000 lbs. The parallel rails would lower the speed of a truck but would do less harm to occupants AND might be less expensive to install. Or plant...
  2. "Gen 2 F-150 Lightning" development leaked in Ford employees' Linkedin profiles

I just really like my Lightning. I could suggest ways to improve it, but a battery-powered Ranger or Maverick would not do it for me. I rode in mybrother’s new Rivian pickup. It felt clausterphobic plus I need at least as large a bed and my German Shepherd needs all the space in the rear seat...
  3. Need Help with Deer guard front bumper design

Would it be simpler to just add a snow plow? And if snow is not a concern where you drive, perhaps you could cut holes in the blade for headlights, etc. with an angle grinder.
  4. Original owner of 22 lariat need help please

I also have a ‘22. What is the problem that the update fixes?
  5. Calibrating speedometer

I had assumed the speedometer was working off data from the GPS just like the nav system. Seems from this thread that it works off the transmission except there isn’t one.
  6. Powertrain malfunction

Was the outside temperature extremely hot? I had the wrench appear in really hot high 90s weather, but not since then. Dealer said to come back when the wrench symbol is visible.
  7. Rodent damage :( help on where?

Our heat went out in 10 degree weather 130 miles from home, mouse damage. I had the dealer install the $50/roll Honda capacion-infused tape and lots of the special $40/(small) healthfood store peppermint oil. 7 months without trouble. Online there are plenty of stories about all makes of cars...
  8. Service Vehicle Soon comes and goes.

At the beginning of July we drove about 300 miles with a canoe on top. (’22 Lariat ER at 72-75 mph) We got the Service Vehicle Soon message a number of times. So I made an appointment for last Monday. In the 4 weeks between when the light came on and the service appointment, the light never...
  9. New Mexico OEM Gear Selector/Shifter ($115 Shipped)

I will buy it if it came out of a Lightning. How do I proceed from here? My’22is not giving me trouble but I don’t want to have to switch to a rotary. If you can send me an invoice with paypal info, I will pay you that way. ([email protected])
  10. MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX OR OPEN COUNTRY A/T III EV

Look for reviews and tests on the Tire Rack website.
  11. Ford Dealerships refusing service to Ford lightnings.

The problem with winning a lawsuit to compel a dealer to sevice a Lightning is, do you really want your truck to be serviced by that dealer anyway. Not me.
  12. Dirt in 12V Battery Bay Area

    Mine too.
  13. Ford Dealerships refusing service to Ford lightnings.

I bought mine from Burdick Ford in Central Square, NY (just N of Syracuse). They have been very happy to work on my Lightning and I strongly recommend them. I have heard that Romano Ford sells but does not service Lightnings. I have seen Lightnings with Romano license plate frames parked...
  14. Increase range by 18% with Flated Cap

My range increases a lot when my wife is riding along in the truck.
  15. National Grid: Upstate NY - EV charging discount programs

Following up, we charge both vehicles, one with the Tesla HPWC on a 240 volt 60 amp breaker and the other on the Ford 240 volt with a 100 amp breaker. I stagger the starting times for the two vehicles by 15 minutes. This is at a house that only has 200 amp service. Been doing this for over 2...
  16. National Grid: Upstate NY - EV charging discount programs

We use NG’s time of use plan all use between 11pm and 7am. That means we pay about 5 cents/kw. The special tou meter was free and the rate applies to all use, whether it is to charge our Lightning, our Tesla, or to run our dishwasher or dryer. At the time we signed on, the special electric...
  17. Should I avoid a used ‘22?

I too have a ‘22 Lariat ER. I believe these have features that newer models don’t. The only real trouble I had was mouse damage to some wires. Now I keep it treated with peppermint oil and had Honda capuscion tape applied too. It is quieter than my Tesla and has a great standard equipment...
  18. Recommendations on Truck Covers?

Skip the cover. Ford does great at painting. When I sold my 2013 F150 to get the Lightning, 10 uncovered years and about zero washes, the paint still looked like new. My ‘22 Lightning’s paint seems just as good. Let the rain clean it for you. Interesting to us: when we visited the Dearborn...
  19. Sunroof leak

My son’S late-model Toyota RAV 4 had the problem of leaking down the A piller due to clogged drains. I never had this problem with my ‘13 Lariat or my ‘22 Lightning Lariat but I would definitely prefer not having a sunroof. I do like the opening rear window though.
