  1. Ford considers ending F-150 Lightning

Like everyone else, I love my Lightning and would never return to an ICE pickup. Like everyone else, I love my Lightning and would never return to an ICE pickup. My 2023EV has been trouble-free and very efficient, coupled with my Solar system. Price of fuel for ICE is just making my pay-back...
  2. How does cabin heating work?

Ford used a conventional resistive heating system in the 2022-23 Lightnings. In 2024, they went to a heat pump. Additionally, I only use the heated seats and steering wheel but my temps rarely drop below 25 degrees in the mountains.
  3. Over optimistic range every time I charge

I have 29k miles on my 2023 Laredo ER. my average mileage over this time is 2.4 miles/kwh. I have learned to drive differently which has increased my efficiency. This includes limiting speed to 70-75 mph (5 over limit)- which took time for me to get used to as many speed past me. I just...
  4. Tire life

Generally, when I go camping, I have 4-5 adults in the truck along with 300-500 lbs of additional stuff. I top off my tires at 40 PSI to roll better with the additional half-ton weight.
  5. Tire life

The heavy Lightning is fine on level, smooth roads like freeways and my tires would have probably lasted 50K+ miles. I live in the mountains with curvy mountain roads which accommodate over 80% of my driving as I mostly stay local. As a result, I had to change at 20K miles when my tires wore...
  6. Tire life

I made 27k on my original Hancook tires. I replaced with Michelin Defender 70k guaranteed miles. I don't think it will make it. I live in the mountains with lots of curved roads, they seem to be lasting the first 10k better than the Hancook.
  7. Over optimistic range every time I charge

I have over 30k on my 2023 ER. The truck has 'taught me' to do easier starts and slow down a bit which saves lots of electrons. Much of my driving is to and from my house up in the mountains 8 miles from a town (resulting in just getting 25k out of my first tires). I have light A/C on about...
  8. Look what followed me home :-P

I see. Much more complex than mine. I am 76 yrs old and retired also but still build. Hope you can get your truck inside as it really prolongs the condition of the truck. Blessings...
  9. Look what followed me home :-P

The pop-out in my garage was my solution to the short garage. I described it in another post but it has disappeared from this string!
  10. Look what followed me home :-P

I had the same problem with my truck being too long and tall for my garage. I first popped out the rear wall 12", leaving the 6" stem wall in place and walling in the pop-out to just underneath the 16" eave- like a bay window. I supported my rafters with 2x4 kickers and put a 4x10 header...
  11. I'm glad I have my Lightning....

I don't care what it is worth on the market. Like you, my last truck won't be sold till after I have gone to meet my Lord.
  12. Reflections on the State of DCFC Charging in the US

Thank you very much for that great information. Since I rarely charge away, a membership fee would not work. I did register at Charge Point last year but rarely use it as they have no fast chargers over 62.5 Kw in areas I drive. Still love my truck!
  13. Reflections on the State of DCFC Charging in the US

Thx. I am a tesla member and will check into EA as I thought I was a member thru Ford
  14. Reflections on the State of DCFC Charging in the US

I too have used several different charge sites. EA was my favorite as I got fast-charging but they also have High-rate costs- ($.68/Kwh at Selma, CA in June). I also like Tesla but I have found that I cannot charge at many of their sites. Their rates are a bit lower as I found Tesla at...
  15. I'm glad I have my Lightning....

Yup, sold my 2016 Taco with 135k on it and bought my 2023 Lariat ER. Charge at home with solar and especially happy with fuel costs projected to rise up about 20% in California. At 2.4 miles/Kwh, I am very happy.
  16. Increase range by 18% with Flated Cap

I have an electric tonneau cover I installed the week after delivery. I also drive in a variety of environments. My overall mileage average is 2.4 Kwh after 26k miles on my 2023 extended range F-150 Lariat. I charge at home and love this truck!
  17. Did you buy an extended warranty?

I totally agree with the above, I got a B2B which I negotiated lower than asked because I was aware of what Ford charged and only gave them a little mark-up which they agreed to. With the new tech and limited service availability, I also felt that this was a wise investment, although I thought...
  18. Required Dealer Service

America's Tire let me purchase a hazard warranty on these when only 5k on them for $140.00. They will replace a tire if it is damaged within 1 year. They do free flat fixes and rotate the tires (with new spin balancing and torquing) every 5k miles. Ford quoted me $50 to rotate once so, in...
  19. What do you keep in your sub-frunk?

I keep my level 1 charger cable in it along with a folding shovel and small ground cloth. I will also keep my NACS Tesla adaptor in it if it ever comes (ordered w/Ford 2/25/24)
  20. What do you call / name your Lightning?

    Old Blu (Azure Grey)
