Looks like Venomrex only ever sold +12mm and 0mm offset wheels. They seem to not be producing anything at all anymore.
I can say with certainty that those are not 0mm offset, otherwise they'd be sticking way out. So I'd assume what you see in the photos are the +12mm offset wheels.
I don't know how I could have possibly overlooked that! Mookie is our long time camping boy.
And we just adopted this little travel lady this weekend to join in on the adventures:
That’s awesome that you’re traveling that far with the trailer in tow. And glad to hear there’s another Escape being towed by a Lightning out there!
I’m a firm believer in the superiority of fiberglass trailers and Escapes are great examples of them.
I mean if it is a WDH with sway control, it’ll definitely help if a swaying event happens, so I think it’s really more of a personal question at that point for how much safety factor you’re after.
For me, personally, between the trailer being small compared to the truck, having dual axles, and...
The hitch is a 6000lb Fastway E2 Round Bar WDH. However, I didn’t use it for this trip because I wanted to see how the Lightning handled it on its own.
I’m going to move to a normal hitch setup without WDH to save 60lbs or so on the tongue. The Lightning doesn’t sag anywhere close to how much...
lol! The dealer didn't install it. I actually installed it today so I could stop paying non-Good-to-Go tag prices.
We haven't camped at Fort Warden yet but I need to get there.
I'm especially fond of Flagler since we were coincidentally staying there the weekend the Aurora Borealis was visible...
Since I see a lot of people doing utility-type hauling reports, figured I'd throw a camper in the mix since I know I'm not the only one who was cautiously optimistic for this kind of towing situation.
First, some context: We live in Seattle, which means we've got an insane plethora of camping...
Nice! I've been trying to see if anyone has put the Raptor/Tremor side steps on a Lightning yet. I may do the same to mine.
Just FYI, your side steps are actually installed backwards. The tapered/logo end is supposed to be at the rear of the vehicle. Surprised they mount either direction...
Does the Lightning use the same mounting points for side steps/running boards as the Super Crew ICE F-150s?
My assumption is that any side steps made for SC ICE F-150s will bolt right on to Lightnings as well, but just figured I'd see if anyone can verify that before I waste money for no...
I can't imagine a software improvement like this wouldn't be intended to get implemented on previous model years as well.
As to whether each individual person will actually receive it is obviously a different question, since it seems there's multiple anecdotes of people not getting updates. But...
Was waiting to see if Ford would have the balls to bring back an exciting color (maybe some grabber blue hmmm?) for 2025. Instead, they just nuked the slightly interesting off-color and added nothing.
That's impressively lame...
Ah I’m looking at the Platinums that have like $12k discounts on their site. Assuming that must just be dealer discount since they don’t qualify for the tax credit.
I’m in Seattle myself.
Seems Sound Ford in Renton has the most availability with the largest discounts. Did you happen to interact with them at all in your purchasing ventures?
So from what I can gather, to order the truck you want, you configure the basics on Ford.com and then have to rifle through the various configurations on the "View Matches" page to hunt down the detailed options like power deployable running boards or bedliners, etc.
Most of the more optioned...
Thanks for this review and writeup.
I had ordered a Lightning with the optimistic plan to tow our Escape 19. Glad to see someone gave it a shot.
I ultimately chickened out last week after considering our personal situation and bought a Tundra HV.
We do about two camping weekends a month...
And thanks for all your efforts in all of these threads and behind the scenes!
I definitely feel bad being a data point contributing to the current onslaught of anti-EV nonsense, but I’m hopeful for the next couple years.
At least the Tundra has a battery and a kind of full EV mode at lower...
I've got good news and bad news:
Good news is that the truck finally went to "Built" last night (9/21 production day - Lariat ER)
Bad news that I may get roasted for is that I completely chickened out at the last minute and went and bought a Tundra Platinum HV and cancelled my order.
I was...
