Good info about the campsites, thanks!
Regarding generator time, it’s even worse by my calculations. If I’m getting 2.8 kWh from twin generators after some loss in the transformer, it’d take 30 hours to add 85 kwh to the battery.
The situation I’m envisioning is, going to certain places that...
Hi,
I'm puzzling out my build and trying to decide if I should spring for the Individual Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)/Customer-Placed Trailer Camera.
I was just curious if anyone can confirm that the trailer camera is able to be shown onscreen while you're actually at speed...
This is cool, looks like it might take some of the technical aspect out of the charging method hturnerfamily and Adventureboy mentioned, with using two opposite-phased outlets at a campground. Supposedly, that Quick 220 actually checks the phases before doing the conversion.
OK, the 240v from...
I found another page that would imply getting 240w out of two 2000w generators isn’t possible, or if it is you’d have to resort to some hacky wiring that I wouldn’t dare to try. I think that, after I get the Lightning, I’ll just get a 120v/240v transformer and do what I can to measure its...
This is cool! I saw your other thread where you mentioned that. Though it’s not guaranteed that it would work even with an outlet from a neighboring site, right? If they’re on the same circuit, my understanding is that it wouldn’t work.
Thank you for the helpful answer! I’m not too concerned about maximizing the 30a outlet as we spend most of our time off-grid, but I do want to make sure those generators work well. You’re probably right that the 3000w from the generators will be lowered in the conversion. That’s why I’m curious...
Hi!
I’m curious if anyone has used a 120v to 240v transformer to get the Lightning to charge faster, especially at campgrounds where 30a RV outlets are available, or even to get more juice from a 120v generator.
I want to get a Lightning, but currently tow a travel trailer with a Tacoma. We...
Thanks all for the info, especially hturnerfamily who provided that really detailed explanation!! That info is actually a huge eye opener... I didn't realize charging slows to a crawl after 80%. We tend to go off-grid a lot and are hardly ever at plug-in campgrounds. So...
Extended range...
Hi! I just joined because I’m seriously considering ordering a Lightning.
The whole reason I own a truck (currently a Tacoma) is to tow our travel trailer around. It’s 18’, something like 2,800 lbs, a “Fun Finder X” from 2008 (cheapo ultralight trailer). Since my wife and I are lucky enough to...
