I had to use Walmart chargers on a trip in my Nissan leaf, maybe five years ago. The experience was horrible. The chargers were installed close to the store entrance and were always blocked by ice vehicles. I hope future installs are away from the store entrance.
I have grid tied solar panels on my garage. Not a lot, only 12 panels. But I figure it gives me about 800+ free driving miles every month, averaged over the year. Try making your own gasoline.
With such a short commute and with the regen, you might want to only charge to 80% on a daily basis. Only charge to 100% when you have a long distance trip planned. /$0.02
