To be devils advocate (while fully recognizing in Montana we are but a miniscule fraction of the US population and certainly the EV driving population)...Outside of I-90 there are 2 Superchargers open to Lightnings. The Supercharger on this map in Big Timer is NOT open. Yes, people do live...
I too am a rolling stop kind of a person...which I love about the Lightning. Turn one pedal driving off and it feels almost identical to a gas powered vehicle. It still has regen, but it is not nearly as aggressive and you will need to depress the brake pedal to come to a full stop.
It sounds like a Lightning would fit your use scenario for a truck. You have a tow vehicle and are looking for a daily driver and occasional road tripper. The potential for a battery failure is real, albeit overblown by certain interests. Yes, every battery eventually needs to be replaced, but...
I saw one just the other day and thought "that is a decent looking pickup right there." If I were to ever switch to another EV truck, it would be the one.
Tesla market cap - 1.494Trillion
Ford market cap - 54.63 Billion
Rivian market cap - 20.01 Billion
Seems like there is definite opportunity in the EV game...certainly appreciate Ford needing to pivot considering market forces...recognize Tesla offers a lot more than just EVs and market cap...
I seem to remember at least one forum member talking about their truck rolling away after putting it into park. I also remember several other members telling them (it much more words) they were crazy and they must have done something out of the ordinary. Wonder if they experienced this issue.
Yes and no...there is a 140 mile stretch along I-90 I travel with zero chargers...it's not uncommon to experience -10 degree temps with 40 mph cross winds and interstate getting shutdown for hours...no mindset is going to negate such harsh factors...they even catch ICE drivers off guard who...
Love the Lightning and have no interest in going back to gas...don't consider an EREV an upgrade...Our other vehicle is a hybrid and I want to go full electric as soon as possible...the major challenge is 400 mile road trip, dead of winter, in temps below 0 (sometimes the "high" can be -5), and...
Even if Ram Charger was available I would have purchased the Lightning. Did extensive research before purchasing and knew it would fit our use scenario. Ford, Fed and Dealership were all offering incredible discounts/tax breaks/incentives that resulted in an incredible OTD price. Ram Charger is...
I haven't noticed any reduction in performance and still feel the full pull of the truck. Although, I have noticed with grand entrance of winter, that the reduction in available power seems to be more aggressive than last winter. Truck has consistently dipped to 86%-90% already this winter...
No recommendations for tires....but just got into the truck after it was parked outside...power reduced to 95%...winter is coming....last winter we just rocked the OEM Goodyear Wranglers and they were solid on the snow and ice (in town). Put Blizzaks on our other vehicle (interstate driver in...
One man who, as it would be, is the head of an automotive company...but this one man also thought EV adoption would be far greater...also a man in a month (if sales only drop, to say, 8%) that can come out and say "EV's are proving to be more resilient and didn't drop nearly as much as we...
There is talk of a major data center coming to Montana that would require the equivalent of one million homes...the total population of Montana is around 1.1 million...residents and businesses are not charged the same rate for electricity...businesses receive a lower rate. If the past provides...
Not much nuance there...I have no clue about the auto industry, but I have worked for several corporate retail companies at different levels throughout my life. In my younger years I worked for Safeway and they constantly talked about "let us know if anyone speaks of unionizing". Pay was minimum...
