Interesting idea! I love the driftwood type colors i see in things like rivian sometimes. Your post has inspired me to consider giving it a shot in my lightning for a few bucks, but only if itās removable. Any idea whether this stuff would leave a fun residue if it needed to come off?
Beware:
I canāt be certain it was this update because I rarely use it, but after this update my door keypad pin was deleted (in addition to charging locations). Caught me by surprise when I had neither phone nor key on me one day.
Super interesting plot. My read is that itās telling us that the machine is most efficient when running at maximum power. That very much aligns with expectations, and other types of machines. ICE engines are most thermally efficient at wide open throttle at their design RPM for example, etc...
Got this last night.
First time an update deleted my home charge location and caused charge to 100%. Nice.
Any word on whether this is part of 500A charging update?

I actually didnt have a pre-concieved idea of how this poll would turn out, but given its one-sided result, Iād urge you to take it to management if possible.
I was road tripping today and actually chatted with two other lightning owners at superchargers about the...
This is the part that doesnāt make sense. EREV, from Ford or Scout or anyone, seems like a low-volume model for people who do serious towing and are willing to put up with the downsides of ICE to do it.
Ford claims they couldnāt produce lightning cheaply enough. How can they possibly add...

I was quite disappointed to not have my 500A charging this week on a roadtrip. What gives on only giving this update to part of the fleet?
The team should have plenty of free time with no more lightnings comingā¦
At the size of the lightning battery, weād probably be better served by some efficiency gains than more battery. Another 0.5mi/kWh (~+25%) would add 80 mi epa range, more or less.
Tesla managed some monster efficiency gains between generations, if Ford could learn how that was done that would...
No one would disagree that ford nav leaves something to be desired. Doesnāt change the fact that an EREV could greatly benefit from route planner integration to address many of the issues raised in this thread.
itāll be interesting to see how it turns out. To some extent the media has always had a disease of āev sales are fallingā for years even though sales have been always increasing, except for the past few months.
I wonder if GM will follow suit or stay the course.
Good point, that seems feasible if they are going with a somewhat small generator. If they end up having to go the reported ram route and have their fleet v6, seems like the packaging would be a challenge down there.
plus then the frunk might have to hold a small spare tire
Keep in mind that an EREV F-150 will have access to the route planner (read: elevation, weather data, etc).
it should be trivial for the future truck to plan to run the generator at a sufficient clip to keep sufficient battery through whatever the route plan is. Or, telling you if your route...
Looks like AI slop to me.
No actual technical details at all in the article? Every citation in the article is to a broken link? No matching info available via google search (which also began with its own AI misinformation option!)?
This future of (mis)information fabricated by GPTs is so...
Iāll call out Pepco in MD for a ridiculous TOU plan:
no TOU: $0.25/kWh
TOU off-peak: $0.23/kWh
TOU peak: $0.335/kWh
Clearly a predatory money grab for those who buy EVās but donāt look hard at the TOU rates.

My best suggestion would be to up your game on avoidance while youre adding impact resistance. Get a copy of Forscan and a OBD cable and enable the matrix high beams (ford calls it 'glare free'), assuming thats still standard equipment for 2025. The peripheral high beams that this provides...
