Years of keeping gas suckers on life support. Got tired of that.
2021 Mach-E to replace an ICE car that was in the ICU. Very happy with the Mach-E so far.
2022, added solar panels to feed the house and Mach-E. Also happy with those.
2024, got Lightning XLT SR to haul stuff, tow stuff, and...
I've known plug-in hybrid owners who said pretty much the same thing. It's probably because their typical usage cycle has been to charge to 100% every night, then commute on the battery until it's flat and switch to the ICE. All the evidence shows that such a cycle kills batteries quickly, while...
I've turned off the rear occupant alert, but as T.F.M. says:
When you switch the system off, a
message appears every six months as a
reminder that the system is off. You can
switch the system back on or leave it off.
So, it nags one every six months instead of every time a backpack is left on...
We've often watched the little speed limit sign on our Mach-E read 85 in a 55 zone. That prompted us to never even consider using the automatic speed limit function on anything.
That having been said, the adaptive cruise control can be amazingly good given what it has to work with - just a...
Does your utility have anything similar to what's discussed in the following thread?
https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/easy-way-to-safely-access-backup-power-for-home-and-free-for-some-pg-e-customers.16910/
It's a long thread, but there might be something useful in there if you...
The comments below the article are, as usual, gold (plated plastic). Especially amusing is the claim that tires pollute much more than tailpipe emissions, and EVs are heavier and have more torque, so EVs pollute more than gas suckers.
If particulates were the only pollution (so carbon dioxide...
Thanks, @WXman, for bringing up several points that are worthy of discussion...and reminding me to plug in my truck.
I agree that people can and should buy what they desire. The problem I see is that people's desires are being manipulated by many media, convincing people that what they desire...
These are important issues; however, there are more serious problems: Politics and fear of change. Tens of millions of North Americans who would be better off with today's EVs rather than gas suckers have been convinced to stay with gas. Most can't imagine charging at home ≥90% of the time and...
Four of those scary EVs in one yard? And it appears that I might live near OP? Should I be thinking of moving before something happens?? (Of course I'm kidding.)
Seriously, +1 more for quick evacuation, calling emergency personnel, and keep up that insurance.
A question, though, for the...
I like the onboard scales on my 2024 XLT, but I haven't found them extremely important. Given that they consist of linear potentiometers at each wheel measuring how much the suspension compresses under load, they're not extremely accurate -- just useful to help prevent overloading.
My truck...
Interesting! Is your commute mostly on highways, freeways, or something else? How about the terrain and typical traffic? The HVAC theory makes sense; could Sentry Mode also be eating some energy?
Just trying to understand the context a little better and maybe see a use case that our trucks...
You have some nice ones back East. In the West, I'll vote for California 1 through Big Sur...when it's fully open! They've cut a road into cliffs overlooking the ocean, and shifts happen.
(Visitors: You can charge in Morro Bay and drive North quite a way, then drive back. Still worth the...
I think, based on OP's listed occupation, that they do do windows. That would mean driving all over the place for work, to do installations. Am I on the right track, OM150?
I thought the article was sensible, just a bit obvious. Of course companies which make lots of money selling and servicing ICE vehicles, and those that sell ICE fuel, want to keep the status quo. It's "good business" to do so.
The quotes are because so many executives and investors consider...
Good point. Once upon a time, we had monopoly restriction laws and an FTC that enforced them for the good of most people, so as to mitigate this problem...when I wrote the word "ideally" I wasn't very specific about these details, but I agree they're important.
Thanks for the videos. They were interesting and seemed to make sense, though as a resident of the Pacific Rim, I found Joe's accent a little difficult to understand. :P
Isn't consolidation in an emerging market a perfectly normal occurrence? It is rough on those who bet on the companies...
Perhaps a photo taken with a ruler next to the item would help us judge the scale.
Maybe you have a low end model and this is the plug for the unused wires and hoses that go from the traction battery to the AI Powered Intimate Massager on a Platinum?
Hear, hear! I agree wholeheartedly with your preference for real trucks, defined as vehicles that emphasize a bed for hauling rather than an SUV interior. My 25 year old Ranger had a longer bed than my new Lightning does. I would have jumped at a 2-seat Lightning with a ≥7 foot bed. That's...
My XLT doesn't have "intelligent" (LOL) cruise, but Wife's Mach-E does, and it has shown us an 80 or 85 mph limit many times during the last ~4 years...generally on freeways, though, where it should have been 55 - 70 mph.
I'll go out on a limb and call it a bug.
