It should be noted that even that's not foolproof. Pretty sure @branden ran out with it showing 5-6kWh. In Out Of Spec's original range test, Kyle managed to get it down to 2kWh so it's certainly not an exact science. Under 5% is Russian roulette and my money is on the BMS eventually winning...
I got it Tuesday night so seems to be rolling out to the masses. I applied for EAP when I purchased 2+ years ago but guess they have enough 23's and been stuck on waitlisted.
Anything is possible with enough time/ingenuity. Look at what Martin and Zach (@ZSC100 ) are doing with everdrive. Believe Martin also managed to fool BC to working while towing but said it was twitchy.
yeah those modifying heavily would be in the minority. Some just don't want the added electrical/mechanical failure points of higher trims (see moonroof and lightbar problems) either.
It's not like people are hacking their trucks to add Blue Cruise for free. People are just making miscellaneous tweaks that they'd otherwise never see (matrix headlights, cameras at speed, etc) or skipping the cluster that is Ford OTAs (PPO while off, charge speed on IPC). Ford isn't losing any...
The 12v is the key to everything. If it's struggling, a lot of weird things happen. And if the Lightning is anything like the Rivian, you can't even charge the truck on level 2 if the 12v is completely dead.
Everdrive will basically make that a reality. It's only level 2 so you're limited to the max ac speeds your truck supports though so the benefit will be limited if towing a good load
The big thing with those range numbers is to make the people feel warm and fuzzy on the off chance they tow. Have a Ram 1500 and I couldn't even make it the 400 miles+ it gave me on a tank when we went to Florida last year. I started getting antsy after about 3 hours so 200 miles in 15min would...
FDRS is pretty straightforward. If you've managed forscan, it should be easy peasy. The big thing is to make sure you have an adequate power supply (75amp+). A normal trickle charger isn't going to work.
Would be interesting to see what PTS says. Got prompted for this one when I got home and decided not to take any chances. Hooked up the power supply and let it go on its merry way. Couple minutes of buzzing and all was good.
