I don't blame anybody for not taking delivery.
Ford is a mess right now. They have really bitched the reservation, ordering, and delivery processes of new vehicles over the last few years.
I decided at the last minute to not convert my reservation to an order.
I'll probably just keep my ICE...
That's a common misconception. They are virtually the same length and width. The Lightning is a fraction of an inch bigger in both dimensions, so I'm not really sure how the Cybertruck got the reputation of being a giant.
No email. Placed my reservation 30 minutes after the presentation started 5/19/21.
I am beyond disappointed with how Ford handled the reservations, orders, and prioritization process.
Without the old tax rebate, I don't think I can even justify spending the money to get a Lariat ER like I...
You are actively ignoring the survey of the early reservation holders which completely contradicts your position here.
Are you trying hard to not believe the evidence here, or is it just coming natural? Either way your consistency in not believing data samples and unwillingness to acknowledge...
Right... Enthusiasts... Aka the very people who reserved the first 200k Lightnings. This spreadsheet includes 200 samples of the type of person buying Lightnings in 2022 and 2023.
And it shows they mostly wanted Lariats and Platinums.
The reservation tracker from this forum suggests the vast majority of people wanted Lariats or Platinums. 20 of the first 30 entries are Lariat or Platinum.
Here is the link to the full results.
I see. Well... Maybe. There are still nearly 200k people waiting as well as a ton more people who missed the reservation deadline in 2021 and will reserve one once new reservations are taken.
I do agree though that many of those people wanted cheaper versions.
A lot of people, myself...
I see. The expedition is certainly not a low volume vehicle. My comment about lightning being low volume certainly doesn't apply to any other Ford vehicles. I wasn't intending my comment to apply to any other vehicles.
I think we're on the same page now.
I can't tell from your response what you are disagreeing with. I read your entire post and didn't see anything in your response related to the points I was making.
Are you disagreeing with the fact Ford could in theory raise the prices and still sell out for 2023? I think this is pretty evident...
I'll still purchase an EV, but the lack of rebate will affect how much I spend and what I buy.
For instance, if Rivian's attempt at having everyone sign a "binding contract" works out, I'll just buy the Rivian because it's a much better deal given the price difference.
I can't justify the cost...
How many Lightnings do you think Ford is selling this year and next year? You don't think this is a low volume vehicle?
This is an exceedingly low volume vehicle for 2022. It's still going to be really low in volume next year as well.
I think Ford is trying to keep the price as competitive as possible.
I don't think they will jack up the price any more than they have to.
Just because they CAN raise the price more and still sell out next year doesn't mean it would benefit them to do that.
In order to maximize profit, Ford...
