I think it will be a while. Maybe a year or more before they start taking more reservations or opening the order banks to people without reservations.
Your best chance at getting a Lightning is to buy one already on the lot at a dealership. The downside of this is that any truck on the lot...
I'm pretty sure that's not how it works.
Those waves going forward are for people who currently have reservations. Ford never claimed people without reservations will somehow be included in future waves.
How would Ford even know to send somebody a wave invite if they don't have a reservation?
I just saw a dealer mannequin that cannot even be fully viewed... Forget about test drives.
It's locked up in the showroom. Dealer won't unlock it, open the frunk... Nothing. They want to keep it in perfect condition for the person who bought it and is taking possession in several months...
Well... Looks like I can't get an ER Lightning for a reasonable price anymore, so I'm likely to pass. I'll keep my reservation for now in case I change my mind, but I don't think I want to spend that much.
I have reservations in for multiple other EVs, so I'll have to see what I can get for...
No... That would be true assuming equal distribution among dealers.
Since Ford is disproportionately allocating trucks to certain dealers with a strong preference for those in ZEV states, that math doesn't mean much.
Dealer A in Kansas with 500 reservations could get 1 allocation while dealer...
Bluecruise is only hands-free on certain premapped highways. Bluecruise can be used elsewhere minus the hands-free feature.
The truck may prompt you to put your hands on the wheel even when driving on a hands-free highway for various reasons, and it will go back to hands-free mode...
I know many people still need to have the appropriate hardware installed in their homes, but I'm wondering if anybody has tried to use the V2H feature to power their homes yet.
Have any of you tried it?
If so, let us know how it went.
Right... Did I say anything to the contrary?
I acknowledged the OP's experience and mentioned that some dealers are now selling preordered vehicles to other buyers without even notifying the original person who placed the order.
This is happening to people with Mach Es too.
It's probably happening with Broncos as well, but I don't follow those forums.
It's bad enough when dealers add on extra markup at the last minute, but they are sinking to a new low now by not even notifying people when their vehicles arrive and...
Yeah, that's true overall. I definitely think most people making $160k per year can afford an $80k vehicle if they don't have too many other financial obligations.
I think your numbers just illustrated the problem. If you consider the limit for single people for the tax rebate, you would have...
Agreed... But I'm confident a lot of people buying the Lightning are under the limit. It doesn't make financial sense, but people like nice stuff.
I don't think anybody will argue that buying an $80k truck is unwise unless you make enough money to max out your 401k or similar account, max out...
Congrats on getting a pro! It is definitely an exceptional value. One of the only EVs I know if that actually costs less up front than a comparable ICE vehicle.
Precisely my point. I suspect the Lightning would have a lower cost of ownership at some point, but it would take years.
Somebody who replaces their vehicle every 2 years may lose money, whereas somebody who keeps their vehicle 8 years may come out quite a bit ahead with an EV.
One thing we...
It's disengenuous because you aren't really saving money... The money went toward the higher cost of the vehicle than the ICE version.
It doesn't matter how much you spend on gas... You aren't saving money if it costs more money for you to save money on gas.
If you are going to calculate cost...
Well... The reason those credits were started is to recoup the cost of pricey vehicles that people would otherwise be hesitant to buy.
Your math is disingenuous. You can't claim to save money on gas without factoring in how much more electric vehicles cost than gas vehicles with similar specs...
Exactly!
I'm really curious to see how Ford addresses this.
The current system of allocations will never clear the backlog at these dealers if they open it up to new orders prior to taking care of current reservation holders.
Many dealers have hundreds of reservations and only got allocated...
I see your point here... But it really shows that you don't understand the situation is much worse than you think.
I think your statement was based on your own experience of ordering and not having a build date.
But here is the real problem that shows how bad the reservation worked for many...
Why would you need paak for auto lock? It should auto lock using a fob too. There is no direct connection between paak and auto lock to explain the delay in auto lock.
That's how it works on the Mach E for the pin to start. Each person with paak can set up their own pin to start the car.
I'm...
