I took delivery of my Lightning last July and now have about 17k miles on the truck with factory tires. (Platinum with 22” wheels). I used to get about 20k miles on my Tesla Model X tires, which had 20” wheels. Just curious for folks that have more miles than me what you’ve been experiencing. I...
I have had several things to 'unlearn' after 6 years of a Tesla and this is one of my most frustrating. I don't like that charging is a two-handed operation. I don't like that I have to pull that little door down. I don't like that I have to raise that little door up. I don't like that there is...
My wife and I are about to embark upon a long road trip from Colorado to North Carolina, about 1,800 miles. Most of it will be going east along I-70. The longest trip I've made previously was from Denver to far Eastern Texas, which was about half this distance.
Has anyone on the forum made...
Yesterday, I received an email from Sunrun asking me to confirm my shipping address. The amusing part is that I picked up my Lightning 91 days ago and had the Pro Charger installed about 80 days ago.
I have taken three trips in the last four weeks, leaving the truck at the airport for several days each time.
The first trip lost 3 miles of range in 5 days
The second trip lost 2 miles of range in 4 days
The third trip lost 7 miles of range in 6 days
I am not sure why I lost so many miles...
Sure. I think it works best for long highway driving. I recently made a cross-country trip of over 2,000 miles and I used it about 85% of the time. I found it did a very good job of relieving the stress of driving that long distance. It is not full self driving, but I liked the implementation...
I agree with your experience. I was a Tesla owner for almost 7 years and found the first version of autopilot to be much more useful. Blue Cruise reminds me of the experience. I have driven my Lightning over 4,200 miles and used BC often. As with Tesla AP1, it has some very specific use cases...
I had one of the first Model X's built and drove it for about 7 years. It was a great car. I typically trade cars out every 3 years, and the Model X made it past double that time because it was a great car and nothing I saw in the intervening time was a better vehicle.
The best thing about a...
I had a Tesla for 7 years. I was ignorant about all these things. I charged up to 100% often. I stopped by Superchargers often. Here were my results:
Range when new: 256 miles
Range after 7 years: 218 miles
Avg Range of my Model after 7yrs: 230
My penalty for years of not caring: 12 miles
I haven't run the numbers for the Lightning., but you can see it in the truck as you drive. Just watch how the faster you drive. It recalculates your range and the time you will need to spend charging at the next charger. Contrarywise, notice if you drive slower, it will suggest skipping...
As an old Tesla owner (2015), there was a common saying..."slow down to get there quicker". Slower speeds means more range = fewer/shorter charging stops. I found 80mph is just not a good tradeoff of speed and time and charging.
