This is made up, not trying to dupe anyone to clicking on this thread. Forewarning, I do work in Marketing (not for Ford or anything Automobile related). Sorry.
I think an awesome solution to the ER on the PRO grumblings and the frustration to option differences between Lariat and Platnum is this:
On the consumer side only, not fleet.
Have 4 Models (I'm using these name but they can be whatever you want).
Pro (no ER option)
XL (has ER option)
XLT
Platinum (Lariat Platinum Combo)
The Pro would be what it currently is, a work truck available to the consumer. Gets the job done. It would retain the same ER restriction (of not an option) it currently has, because the Pro is their FLEET vehicle. Ford doesn't have to make every FLEET vehicle available to the consumer. Seems fair.
XL would be around $46k, with some interior upgrades from the Pro and the front light bar (the Lightning's signature). Most importantly it can be upgraded to an extended range battery.
(Ford makes enough money on the upgrades to a Pro, to give the consumer the XL available with an ER battery.)
Maybe XLT gets a slight bump in price with the addition of the rear brake lightbar, box lighting...etc.
Starting price of Platinum is currently what the Lariat is, all previous Platinum upgrades over the previous Lariat become option with $$$. Selecting all these previous Platinum options would end up costing what the Platinum currently is.
