The number one way to solve a rodent problem is a roving male alley cat that works our neighborhood 24-7 and boom. No squirrels, no mice, no rats. He’s a big bad ass hunter that took over long after our favorite half-wild “Stubby” worked our neighborhood and passed to the great cat nap. So Stubby ups and leaves us. For the the next 5-6 years both of our cars had wires and.. washer tanks chewed. I tried bait boxes but “Big Red” is the real deal. He’ll be around for a decade. Also.. a garage with a good door can solve a lot of rodent problems. Of note.. he’s a true outside cat and while we’ve lots of coyotes around, a smart outside hunter can successfully avoid them.
