Had the heavy duty trifold Bakflip on my 2016 XLT that I traded for a 2021 Lariat. I can no long lift those types of tonneau covers due to arthritis in back, shoulders and elbows, let alone recent compression fracture in my back. So… I’m thinking the revamped BAK X4s or the Ultragroove. I live in Ct so I’m a little concerned with snow and ice jamming these things up. With the Bakflip I would just broom the snow off and the sun would melt the rest. It would occasionally freeze to the tailgate making opening either impossible until it got above freezing. So which one would be less prone to issues with the cold? I would think if the retractable got ice marbles into the box things could get ugly, or what about water collecting in the box and freezing? The rollup… water freezing in the clamping rails? I need a the security a hard tonneau gives. Thoughts or experience?
