Things I wish I had known:
1) SR can only charge at about 150kw at super charger locations.
2) the home charger cord 240 is worthless if you don’t have a 50 amp circuit. ( I had a 30 amp circuit in my garage). Didn’t work.)
3) charging on the road at superchargers is more expensive than gas.
4) Effective range is really only about 150 miles, as charging past 80 or 90% is too slow and not recommended.
5) Tesla adapters cost $250. Who can wait months for the free one?
6) Many hotels have Tesla destination chargers. $50.

What I installed in my garage:

48 amp Emporia charging station. 60 amp service. 65 foot run to panel.
—Charger $399
-Materials $600
-Electrician’s labor. Free: He is friend. But, over $1000 if I had to pay.
-Charging performance. 10.2 kWh. (I drive 80 miles round trip to work everyday, so this works out great.)

1) yes and the SR battery is limited to 48A L2 as well.

2) home charger - mobile power cord? Not great - lots of reported failures/meltdowns, charges at 32A max, so need a 40A circuit minimum - only good for an emergency on the road really, not suitable for everyday use, just not durable enough.

3) DC FCing definitely charges a premium - because they can - but many road trippers on the forum say they wind up paying less in an EV than a comparableICE for the same trip under the same conditions - pulling campers for example. Your results may differ.

4) Yes the charging slows way down past 80% at fast chargers - to protect the battery, so that's when the ER battery really makes a difference.

Glad your Emporia and the truck are working out for your needs.
All's well that ends well.

On a DC charger, my Pro SR tops out at 161 kw. I’ve seen those numbers on FPL and EA chargers. Because the battery pack is below 400volts, you need a charger with a higher amp output to compensate for the low voltage. On the 150 kw chargers, I top out around 100 kw. But on the 350 kw chargers, I can pull the bigger number because the charger puts out more amps.
