Costco Visa $% EV Charging Credit - you might not get it

On a recent trip, I used Ford Plug and Charge and FPL Evolution. I did not get 4% Costco credit for either. Ford's Merchant Category Code is not under EV. FPL uses Square, so it isn't either.

My missed credit wasn't huge, $4.62 in total ($154 in charges). I could have used my 2% cards and gotten $1.54 more than I did.

I'm going to contact both Ford and FPL to let them know, but wanted to post this so others knew. My request for manual credit (since I have electronic receipts) was denied, I asked for it to be elevated. Also reaching out to Ford, because P&C will only get bigger.

1. What is FPL Evolution ?

2. If you had used the charger's app directly (EVGo, EA, ChargePoint or ShellRecharge), and used the Costco card tied to it, would the MCC fit the EV category and you get the 4% ?

1) FPL is Florida Power and Light. They have their own chargers on their own network and their own app. They use Square.

2) It's supposed to. I haven't had any charges go through for those, I've been using Plug and Charge exclusively.

Got it...

I use EVGo AutoCharge+ for true plug and charge (no phone app needed, no interaction with the charger panel).

Once I forgot my phone and had to get a charge so I pulled up to EVGo, plugged in and started charging without any input on my end.

BTW: Costco VISA keeps bumping up my credit line like every 6 months - weird since I never get automatic credit line increases from my other Citi cards.
