Took the Lightning up to Northern Wisconsin this past weekend to get some woods exercise. Travel up I-90 from Rockford, IL to North Central Wisconsin was okay. 300 miles, three fast chargers (350kW) was a no brainer. Added about an hour over a gasser. Expected.
Return trip along the other side of the state down Highway 51, well frankly, it stunk. All chargers were 50kW max, and spaced out for crap. The trip took 8 hours when it should’ve taken 5. Ugh.
My backside is dragging today.
I expected charge time, but anything below 150kw charging is a deal breaker for taking an electric vehicle.
Funny though… had some weird looks in the north woods where the nearest charger was 45 miles away. One guy even stopped to ask me questions.
