I took the LIGHTNING lettering off yesterday. (Also pulled off the dealer badge.) Dental floss, Goo Gone followed by some detailer spray. The side you're looking at took 45 minutes mostly due to the time it took to remove the adhesive. The other side took only 20. For that side I sprayed the horizontal areas with Goo Gone and let it sit for 15 minutes. That's all. Then I cut them off with floss and used a dry shop rag and heavy-handed downward motion to roll the adhesive off like a snowball. It was about 60F out and I did not use my heatgun on this side. Thanks to all the suggestions on this thread. I'm probably going to put the lettering on ebay in case someone finds them useful.

It might be a bad day for 1st responders if they have to roll up to your truck. 1st responder guides show the markings that will identify it as an EV. Without the markings, they may mistake it for a normal truck and cut into the wrong areas.

In a perfect world where OEMs use uniform markings, that would definitely be valuable. But unfortunately, it seems that OEMs march to the beat of their individual drummer. For instance, Volvo uses Recharge on some of its cars and EX on its new EX30 and EX90. Further, OEMs not only change markings, but also change marking locations on cars. A good example is the Ford Fusion Hybrid. In 2019, it had hybrid labels on the front doors and rear facing portion of the trunk lid. For the 2020 model year, the labeling on the front doors had been deleted. As a first responder, this lack of consistency within the same model and body style can lead to confusion on scene if folks are expecting to see something that is not there.

It has a state issued EV sticker in the upper-right corner of the windshield as mandated by the DOL, "EV" on the plates, the Lightning badge on the tailgate, lightning wheels, lightning headlights and grill, and lightning fender ports.

Nice color and finish. How'd you get the matte? Is it a wrap?
Matte PPF (Expel Stealth Satin Finish) over the standard Rapid Red Ford paint.

Thank you! It gets a lot of compliments.

Since the ICE and EV versions of some vehicles are hard to distinguish at first glance, especially the F-150, looking for a sticker is simply not a good idea for deciding how a first responder should identify what they're dealing with.

I think the easy answer for First Responders is to train them do simply look for the things that guarantee that something is an EV.

1. Lack of a tailpipe or muffler.

2. A sealed front grille.

OEMs publish a 1st responder guide for every HEV/PHEV/EV that the 1st responders can pull up when they roll up to a scene. They also study these like they do other procedures and training aids.

The very first step in these guides are the badging that will identify the vehicle as an EV. Then they show the cutting/no go zones, and finally how to disable the HVB.

I know about these because I use them on how to disable the HVB before we drop the battery...15 so far in my career at the Energy Storage Technology Center.

I'm not as concerned if you have other identifying marks like a special license plate or EV sticker, but not all states have those. I'm not sure if a 1st responder will see a debadged Pro and know it is an EV.

But you do you Boo!
