Like many others, I didn't make the cut at my dealership and got the "wait till MY2023" email. My buddy was high enough at his dealership and got the email to build his. By the time he went to build it, only the Lariat and Platinum models were listed as available, which are a bit above what he wanted to pay...

At least a couple of us have encouraged him to get a Lariat anyway, because the demand for them is off the charts. If he really doesn't want to keep it after owning it for a bit, he should be able to sell it and make a decent bit on the used car market. No, not suggesting he flip it because you technically aren't allowed to keep the 7,500 fed credit if you planned on flipping it prior to purchase.

Anyone think he might have issues unloading it used for more than sticker?

Trying to predict the future is always risky.

I'm in the same position and am choosing to hold out until the truck I am willing to buy for myself is available.

If your buddy is short on cash, I would not be telling him to buy the truck. The upside of being able to sell for a few thousand dollars more than he paid is not worth the huge downside of potentially losing money.

Imagine if the truck has a bad recall and no one wants it, especially at above MSRP.
