I recently purchased a car trailer from someone who towed it with a F150. The trailer has the Ford Trailer Camera / TPMS system (p/n LC3Z-1A189-FG), but I do not have a F150. Or a Ford. Does anyone know if its possible to just use that camera wired directly to a standalone video monitor? The camera's connector has a bunch of pins in addition to power, ground and video out, that I assume include some communication signals (CAN bus, steering angle?), so its not clear if the camera puts out video all the time or only when controlled by the interface. Anyone have any experience with this? TIA.

Short answer, yes, but you’re probably dealing with the 12 pin connector which you can’t easily get a mate for. Also, I believe that camera isn’t that great so if you don’t have an F150 it may make more sense selling that harness on eBay and installing a better camera.

This thread has more specifics.

I assumed I’d have to hack into the wiring harness, but if the camera is not so good perhaps just replacing it would be better and easier. Thanks.
