Prior to buying my lightning, I called my insurance provider, who is American Family, and they told me it would cost me $20 a month more to insure the Lightning over the standard King Ranch F150 that I had. So, $240 a year to me was no big deal.
Well, cut to six months later, and the premiums keep skyrocketing, even though I’ve had no accidents or any claims. Now I find that the Lightning is actually costing me over $2000 a year more than an F150 with a gas engine. That’s a substantial hit to the savings that I collect with the EV.
I am not sure if I want to take that insurance hit when it continues to go up every month. I am looking for a new insurance company that has a better reputation and costs than American Family has with me currently. Any thoughts are appreciated.
