I was just watching Out of Spec's R1T range test and Kyle had the "conserve" mode on which shuts off two of the motors. I realized I don't recall any discussion about there being a potential one motor mode for highway cruising (or drifting :devilish:). Has anyone heard anything about this?

I think we get two permanent magnet motors, not induction motors. Ours will not turn off.

Yeah, they'd need to be decoupled from the wheels with a clutch to effectively "turn off" from a drag standpoint. You still need the same power to propel the truck down the road, and the motors will always turn the same speed at a given RPM.

The newer Teslas have a permanent magnet motor up front and induction in the rear. The rears can "turn off" to save power.
