F-150 Lightning sales totaled 1,918 vehicles in September, bringing the total year-to-date total to 8,760 (since its launch this year in June)

The F-150 Lightning remains one of Ford’s fastest-turning vehicles on dealer lots, turning in just 8 days.

I wish Ford would break out Lightning production and stock. I'm guessing they are grouping Rouge production with the Dearborn truck plant output.

It's going to be a couple more months before the mannequin units hit the sales ledger.

they sure are getting them out at a faster pace than Rivan. Though I've seen two dozen R1Ts driving around and only one other Lightning for whatever reason.

The original estimates were that Ford would build approximately 15K MY22 units. This shows a bit under 9K with the model year about over. Is the difference the fleet and mannequin numbers, or did they fall short?

I always thought it was "at a pace to build 15-20k MY22 units," meaning if they had been building them the entire year they would hit that count, but since it was only part of the year they were built, the actual number would be less. Perhaps I made that up, but it could explain that gap.

I thought I had seen that Rivian had over 8k vehicles built in Q3 (though this is split between R1T, R1S, and Amazon van). If that is true, it beats Ford Lighting production by ~30%

They never officially released a number but my understanding was that the 15k number that was leaked was for CY22 not MY22. If they continue at 2,000/month they'll hit 15k on the nose for 2022.

if we go by Taxman's worksheet, they will build over 15k MY22s. Not all of those will be listed as sold, obviously.

The cumulitive total after September numbers are added is 8,760. Far lower than I would have expected if they were shooting for 15k. I haven't gone back to research press releases, interviews, etc, but it seems highly likely they were talking about CY 2022, not MY. In any case it's dashed my hopes (invitation 5/21) of seeing an order invite before next spring. Frankly with the the general shape of the economy inflation, market drops, and other things in the world, I'm thinking if I had a chance to order today, I would probably hold off as long as I could. A little scary of spending 90K for a truck when my 2012 Avalanche will keep me in wheels for another couple of years if need be.
