I noticed that yesterday when I was hand washing my truck for the first time. The one on my passenger side creaks slightly when I pressed on it. The seams on mine are almost invisible so I probably never would have noticed otherwise. Interesting idea.

Cab and doors are definitely not steel. Tried a magnet to test a few days ago. On a separate note I'm not sure how I'm going to get my amber light to stick on now. ?

I don’t care that they’re plastic, but I wasn’t too happy to discover that my driver side cap doesn’t fit properly. I noticed it after inspecting the paint protection film I had installed on the rocker panels. The driver side wasnt clipped in properly because it doesn’t fit. After a few hard hits with my fist, I got the clip to engage, but it’s still not perfect. Just another example of Ford’s terrible QC on these 2021 trucks.

Another thing to add to the walk around check list when that day far in the future of collecting the truck finally arrives.

Seriously annoyed that they’re plastic, I looked down when I was getting my kid out of the back and saw somehow I had a cut in the plastic on mine.

The cab and doors are aluminum. You will find steel in the tailgate for strength. Ford most likely is using plastic corner caps on the Cab to help with any future damage as aluminum is a bit harder to work with. The whole side of the cap is one piece of aluminum.
Included is a picture for reference.

Did anything else ever come of this? I recently noticed my passenger side cab corner is mis-aligned, and the top is coming into contact with the door / paint.

Really odd. I don't understand the point of that piece.

Why design the cab with the need for that piece in the 1st place?

I WOULD GUESS ITS A FABRICATION ISSUE OF SOME KIND. GETTING THE ALUMINUM TO COOPERATE. MAYBE SOME WEIRD CREASES WOULDNT SMOOTH OUT. SO JUST COVER IT W APERFECTLY INJECTION MOLED PIECE OF PLASTIC. PROLLY SAVED MILLIONS OF DOLLARS
