Anyone added a sub to the factory B&O? Lots of videos on youtube doing this to the ICE model, but no detailed ones on doing a Lightning. The video below is about the closest that I have seen, but it is for an ICE truck. Seems like the only long run you need to make is for 12v battery and bass control knob if you choose. Looks like with the factory sub/amp you just tie into that with a LOC.

Is adding an amp to that 12v battery an issue since these 12v batteries are not charged with an alternator like an ICE truck?

It's mind boggling to me that people would put huge sub boxes under the seat. You just ruined one of the best features of the truck, in that there is a fully flat floor in the back seat and you can fold the seat up to use it.

IMO, the 10" JL Audio PowerWedge, behind the seat, is the best solution. I meant to install one last summer but ran out of ambition. It's close to the top of my to-do list this spring.

Lightning and ICE share underpinnings. Follow the ICE and you'll be good. The wiring adapters all work.

No issue tapping into the 12v - many have done it. Sounds Good Stereo and other installers have good ICE install videos, you can follow them all the way.

Several threads around.

I put mine in a year ago. I don't think I ever put a thread together and should. Here is a my battery tap.

Where did you land your ground?
The exact place that SGS says do not do it. I know they are top of the line experts and they have tools to measure electrical components, but other installers say they have no problem with grounding to the cab. There are Ford ground points back there, so I went that route. After a year of install I've had no problems I'm aware of that could be caused by this ground location. I took some good sand paper to it first.

You should be good. SGS references glue as the reason to run the ground back to the battery, and I understand that. But there are hundreds of steel rivets holding the cab together besides the glue.

Yes, I have the SG and those two 6.5 are more than enough.

Your opinion of the best feature of the truck is not everyone else's. Bass > Space. I love my truck, but the reason I bought it is because I need one to tow my boat around. I miss having a trunk I can stuff with huge box and subs.

I'm half tempted to raise the rear seats so I can fit a bigger box for more boom boom.

I didn't say it was the best. I said it was one of the best.

I gave up the "boom boom" about 20 years, 3 noise violation tickets and 2 break-ins ago. I once had a truck, that the whole bed was full of speakers, in a custom box. 4 15's, 2 12's 2 8's in the doors and some tweeter pods. That was back when the Punch amps could be connected together to look like one giant amp. They were installed in a single cab, 8 foot bed, pickup. I had the back wall cut out between the cab and the bed, and sealed with a camper shell gasket, installed under a home made tonneau cover made out of marine plywood wrapped in a custom vinyl cover. I won tons of local competitions. I lost all the photos I had of that truck in a house fire, and since this was the early nineties, there are no digital photos.

I love base, but I found better things to spend money on.

That is AWESOME! I had elaborate systems 20 years ago, too, but nothing remotely close to that. I once sat in a truck that had a similar set up to what you described, and I swear it gave me heart palpitations when the bass hit. I didn't last 10 seconds in the truck and when I jumped out, I felt the concrete under my feet vibrating.

I never got over my passion for bass and loud music, though. I have never owned a vehicle with less than two 12's with the exception of two fox body convertibles where I simply couldn't fit them and had to settle for less. As handy as the underseat storage is, for me, sacrificing that for the subs didn't require a half a thought.

Edit: Sorry to hear about the fire. Same thing happened to me in September and I'm still dealing with the fall out and will be for a while. I can relate and sympathize.

Good luck. Lost a lot of pictures of the kids, but most important, the kids made it out.

You're never done dealing with it. I lost every possession I had, save for the clothes on my back. I still search for things, only to realize that I don't have it anymore.

I can not make out where this is at. Is this behind the back seat? Did you have the BO factory and remove that?
