  1. Lane Centering and Blue Cruise stopped working

I experienced a similar problem about 2-3 months ago. When I took it in to my dealer they determined that the “gateway modem” had stopped working. I brought the truck in and they spent a morning reprogramming the truck and got the gateway working again. A day or so later the problem occurred...
  2. EV motor maintenance? Gear fluid change? When?

I’m sorry, you lost me there. Do you mean BEV motor- Transaxle units don’t generate anywhere near the heat that “ICEs” do?
  3. EV motor maintenance? Gear fluid change? When?

Yes, my dealer is Grappone Ford in Concord, NH.
  4. EV motor maintenance? Gear fluid change? When?

I usually take my Lightning in every 5k miles to rotate the tires and have the service team check over the vehicle. After checking the truck over, the service technician makes a video showing me the critical areas that have been checked. While watching the video I spotted what looked like an...
  5. Ding ding for nothing?

I hear the dings when using driver assist or BlueCruise, and they indicate that either one has temporarily stopped working. I’ve noticed it happens along very curvey two lane roads, when going through toll lanes on an interstate, or when the interstate goes from two lanes to five. Once I get...
  6. Taxman's Lightning Chronology

Thanks for the update. Your record keeping is very comprehensive. My record keeping only consists of a running spread sheet recording the miles driven and the number of kWh added to the battery. In the summer I can average about 2.6 mi/kWh. In the winter I’m lucky to get 2.2 mi/kWh.
  7. Lane keeping and bluecruise absurdly annoying. Can’t drive with it.

I suffered from this same affliction, until I realized that with my hands on the wheel in the 2 and 10 o’clock position, it blocked the sensors view of my face. I found the solution to be lowering the steering wheel a couple of inches. This gave the sensors a much better view of my face. I...
  8. Edmunds 3 year Lightning review

The Edmunds truck didn’t have to have two battery modules replaced in the three years they owned it. I wonder how their conclusions would have changed if they had.
  9. Ford Dealerships refusing service to Ford lightnings.

I generally take it to my dealer’s service department every 6 months or 5,000 miles, just as I did for my old F-150 ICE. These days the main thing they do is rotate the tires, but they also give it a good check over. Doing so provides me with good peace of mind.
  10. Full charge, bang, "Exit vehicle safely" - truck dead in driveway

If you haven’t done so already, you should get Ford’s BEV team involved. +1 800-392-3673
  11. Full charge, bang, "Exit vehicle safely" - truck dead in driveway

RocketGhost is correct. I have had battery modules fail twice. I contacted the service advisor I use at Grappone Ford in Concord, NH by email and in the reply he and the technician had already checked that the truck was having a problem, asked me to get the truck to them ASAP, and had reserved...
  12. Determining the production date of a Lightning (Spin off)

Neat! Let’s see who has the earliest build date. Here is my entry:
  13. I charged to 100% and my Lightning said 379 miles!

The GOM is more of a distraction than it is a navigation tool. I keep my eye on the mi/kWh and the remaining percentage battery charge. The mi/kWh varies tremendously depending on the ambient temperature and the terrain. Last February we had a day where the temperature was about -18 degrees...
  14. Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) Now Open to Non-Rivian EVs

Fled central NH due to Motorcycle Week for a few days along the Maine coast. Stopped in Kittery and while shopping at the Trading Post plugged in at the new Rivian Adventure Network chargers. Once I had my credit card straightened out in the Rivian app it was plug and play. At one point it...
  15. Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power

According to Ford’sCustomer Service Program (CSP) 23B57 “Less than 4% of the affected vehicle population is expected to require one or more high voltage battery modules needing to be replaced.” At the time this program was announced (September 13, 2023) Ford stated that 36,611 F-150 BEV were...
