It's been a while since I've done any trip reports. Partly because doing the video and media editing is painful (and youtube upload/creation is VERY painful), and partly because we have been doing simple/easy trips through forests and national parks, etc.

This trip to Bellthorpe National Park was still fairly easy, but we had an encounter to share.

Trip stats: About 167 kms, 6 hours elapsed (breaks, etc, although there was a lot of driving at about 10 - 20 km/hr), 46% battery used.

Most of the driving was through forest like this:

Our first part took us through to a dead end:

Down the hill:

There was a nice view though:

We had a stop for lunch and met some local wildlife:

After lunch, we took another track and met up with some oncoming traffic at a deep rutted muddy area. They were having trouble coming up the hill and were getting stuck. So we offered to help pull them up - the first time I've ever done this. The following 2 videos (no audio) show us pulling out 2 of the vehicles (If the first 10 sec repeats, blame youtube):

And then we had a go down through the mud. Our line was a bit easier, although the logs on the right near the end made things a bit more complex (no audio):

Lightning to the rescue!! 👍

Did you have to come back up through that spot and if so I assume you did it without assistance?

Looks like fun. Did you install any extra skid plating? I'd be worried about the battery tray on the Lighting in terrain like that.

It was a through road so we did not have to come back. Because of the logs, we would have gotten stuck as well (most likely). If I had been forced to come back and tackle it without assistance, I think I would have tried pulling away the logs first and then going up the outside line.

No extra skid plating - it's actually quite good plating already. I do have 35 inch tyres and a 2 inch leveling kit on it, plus the side steps have been removed and replaced with a retractable version - which helps a lot.
