Any ideas on negotiating power on price? How much below MSRP?

You can get a 2000$ rebate I think if you skip the charger install.

Too right. I took my '23 in to have the two open campaigns completed plus a 10k service and I had a text from the dealer before I could get home offering to buy the truck. That did NOT happen with the '24 Expedition I had serviced the day before.

Make sure you know what current discounts are available . My recent dealer's first offer comeback (for a 2025) was about $12,000 too high. They claimed to be unaware of the discounts. Don't be lulled into thinking that the factory discounts are a "great deal". Those just effectively correct the MSRP for market conditions. You should still get a 7% (+/-) additional discount, as you would on any other car. Keeping things light-hearted helps. It can take an hour to negotiate price, and you may need to stand up to go several times, always smiling and thanking them for their time. Something like "Yes, that does sound like a pretty good deal, and I definitely like the vehicle, but I just need to do some due diligence -- I don't want to spend too much of my kid's inheritance."

Often, the first one or two times when the sales person says "Let me talk to my manager..." he/she just goes to get a drink of water. Only when things get serious will he possibly involve the manager.

Good luck.

The last week of December 2025, I was able to get a new 2025 lighting Platinum with all rebates and incentives for 70,600. Including non Ford extended warranty. I know this is deferent times, but hopefully it gives you a clue as to what a dealership can do. My purchase was from a dealer in Vermont, I made the deal online and couple of phone calls and they delivered to me in New Hampshire. 200+miles away.

Make sure you do a search for state as well as local EV rebates, there are still some out there. My utility ocal power company rebates for both new and used EVs. My utility provider in conjunction with the state gave a $1000 rebate on even a used Lightning.

what a dealership can do.
Ya, 70-75 would be reasonable. I got offered a platinum at about 69k USD last year, they weren't big movers at the time and I have no urge to "upgrade".

Msrp is just under 80k now.
Tons of xlts out there at 54k

Really though, if the op is serious then a couple grand either way shouldn't be a problem.

I purchased a 2025 Plantium with the optional Dark Element option ($1000) in Northern CA in late December 2025. Before taxes, negotiated @ $72k online. No need to spend several hours negotiating on site at the dealership. This is my second online purchase in the last 5 years. Highly recommend.

BTW, there is often an advantage to shopping around to a couple dealerships. When I bought my first F150 in 1990, I spent an hour negotiating with one dealership, and went from maybe $16,800 to $16,200, and I walked out. Went to another small town dealership which had actual "invoice" pricing, with no haggling, and paid $13,800. A year later, with 20,000 miles on it, it was totalled, and I was paid $16k. (I had d moved to NYS, where insurers had to pay full book retail values.)

I always think of the time I spend negotiating as if it is a paying job. For me $4000/hr is good pay.
Ya, I get it but it's highly unlikely you'd be able to do that today. The point is if you spend 2 weeks trying to save a few dollars then it's not for you.
If you can't arrange an agreeable price over the phone then it's not worth going in either. Hell, I'd probably just email around.

You need to understand how the market is for the truck, you're going to have to shop around, it's no longer in production, the best deal you're going to find is one that has been sitting already.

Just like any market, you still need to know when.

I purchased my 2025 Lariat ER in December 2025. Only after I received my title in the mail did I notice that my "New" truck said "Used" on the title. During negotiations, the dealership was telling me how they were losing money on this truck by selling it so low. The truth is that the dealership licensed it in September to get the $7,500 tax credit. I talked with my neighbor, who used to work at a luxury dealership. He now negotiates sales on behalf of someone. It is a niche market, but I looked on Reddit, and apparently, it is becoming more and more popular.

So perhaps try to find someone who would be willing to negotiate on your behalf. Also, you can go to your state's DMV webpage and find the actual cost of licensing and taxes. My dealership added about $500 in inflated costs for those fees/taxes, I found out.

I'd start online with the ford search site with all stealerships within a 500 mile area or 200 mile or whatever mile limit you would be willing to drive to. See what is there and what you want for options and colors.

You got a 2023 so you must be looking at new. I've heard Ford is eating the 7500 tax credit plus you can get the 2000 charger credit off the top plus all the other typical things dealers have to work with. The higher the trim level the more they have to work with. I haven't researched it but I'd be throwing out 15 grand off for a Platinum or any of them actually and maybe it should be 20 grand as a starter for a Platinum.

Most dealers don't let sales associates talk bux anymore. Forget about the back and forth with the sales person and the sales manager. you aren't really getting down to the down and dirty, nitty gritty until the sales manager comes to your table with a contract in hand that he can start marking up with different and lower offers.

Do your internet search on what Ford and dealers are offering for discounts nationwide. Then come up with your dream price to buy it off of MSRP with Ford financing or your financing or cash. Make that offer to the sales person when you find the vehicle you want. Don't budge much and don't be afraid to go to plan B vehicle at another dealer and so on to Plan C vehicle at still another vehicle. Those sales persons will keep after you and eventually get lower if you wait them out.

There are a few dealers out there willing to dump them for about any price to get rid of them. I'm thinking of the one I talked to out in the boondocks in Wray, Colorado who complained that Ford made them take one and they didn't have the wherewithal in their one man service department to sign up for the tax credit software package. They were looking for a dealer swap while the tax credit was still in effect.
