Tyger T3 Tonneau cover: Tailgate assist opens perfectly, but I have to manually close tailgate due to T3 obstruction

When I push the button to close the gate it goes up 98% and the obstruction alarm goes off then it lowers again. Anyone else having this issue or have a fix? I moved the cover forward as far as possible and even cut some of the material off, not working.

Raise cover up slightly on back clamps (if appropriate).

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you think more foam pads on the back two corners would work? I was thinking about trying to raise it with those first.

True, wonder if trimming the rubber bumber stop would do it but I doubt that is the issue here.

I have a cheap folding cover, Amazon special , and mine did this and it was the frame bowing down in the middle, and I just...bent it up a little and haven't had an issue in a year of using it

I know this is probably not helpful, but I chuckle about it every time I use the tailgate with it closed and figured I'd share.

Hi,

That can be annoying - I wanted to also throw out there that a fellow Lightning Club member was having similar issues and he was able to resolve it by adjusting the two tailgate latch bolts (see pic). They are torx bit and you can loosen them and move in and out - not sure if this will help or not.

Update: This finally resolved itself. Break in was needed. Couple of months of shutting the tailgate manually plus the summer heat exposure and now the tailgate closes without obstruction.
