Just be careful with assumptions for payload and TT published weights. I'm dealing with the same thing currently. I started with 1523 lb payload as built. I added 500 lb of humans, 300 lbs of E rated tires, line-x, WDH, and a couple misc. items. Our spec'd TT (Imagine 2250rk - 28') of 5546 UVW...
The only way to be able to pull over 11k or close to max towing capacity is to load up a widget with the weight and use a long 50 foot I-beam so you don't use any payload. In reality, payload will get maxed before anything else.
yes, all measurements were with close to full tank with maybe minus 1-2 gallons between fueling and weighing. I didn't gas up at the travel stop, but maybe 5-15 miles away.
It is funny that while I am freaking out about a 1% payload tolerance, I'm watching a majority of truck and travel trailers going down the road in my area with carolina squats and they have to be waaaaaay over payload. Not making excuses, just an observation.
Maybe I calculated the actual tongue weight incorrectly, but I used the difference between the truck with and without the trailer attached without the bars engaged. That calculated to 840. With the bars engaged, the tongue weight would drop to 800 (7420-6620) and weight is shifted to the steer...
Yesterday I was picking up the trailer from service and taking back to our storage unit and it was getting late. It was about a 20 mile drive. After messing with it for a bit, I just drove a bit slower and dropped it off at storage and returned home. I don't know when I'll get back down there to...
I've been watching this thread for a while. I have a Grand Design Imagine, not an Airstream. I've towed this trailer on a few trips with various trucks and a couple times with my powerboost too. Never had a problem until yesterday when playing with the trailer light test in the FordPass app. I...
So went to pick up the travel trailer from having the warranty work yesterday. They moved the hitch head up one set of holes. They then also did some minor adjustments and they felt that it was dialed in. It really didn't change much. Went across the CAT scales again, but this time got four...
Only if you're moving it around in a parking lot a few feet. If you want to actually use it, no way it will be "comfortable".
This thread may provide some you some additional insight...
I only briefly looked at the smart hitch, but I thought I recall it asking for the trailer weight first. In order to get a true trailer weight, I'd have to take it to cat scales. If I am going to cat scales, the I don't need this gimmick ford feature that only 1 of the 3 modes works.
At this...
I will chime in that I am experiencing and have the exact same concerns as @BLoflin. We exchanged a few chats on this topic before this thread was created. The Vehicle Mode (vertical view) and taillights are completely useless as it shows at least 25% (or more) used with nothing in the truck...
