The cost difference is minimal. I paid $55 for a 100amp breaker and $30-40 for all the wire. If your panel will support it, there's no down side to wiring for 80 amps except the cost of a few cups of coffee. You can always de-rate it internally or through the app.
If you are intent of wiring it...
No. I built this from scratch. Searched out retail components from all over. The controller was a self-assemble from OpenEVSE. It didn’t come assembled with preloaded software back then. Now the controller only costs $150, whereas I just bought a brand new complete 32 amp charging station for...
I didn't think it had that much roll either compared to other trucks. Compared to sports sedans and roadsters, it definitely has a lot of roll. :)
A stiffer sway bar will reduce one dimension of the float, the lateral rock, which for many people, will be enough to take out the "boaty" feel. I...
We had a cold snap a couple winters ago and heat pumps failed all across town. Burst pipes everywhere. An air to air unit is really only hitting 150% efficiency. Once you get below -20C they really struggle and the backup heat will have to kick in. I assume the 24’s unit will have a resistance...
The key issue is the fuel. I would add fuel stabilizer and fuel system cleaner to every tank and make sure I use up one full tank of gas every six months.
Another poster mentioned using premium gas, but I don’t agree with that. Premium gas on its own is just refined further to allow more...
He wants the feature to work properly. I don’t think that’s an unreasonable expectation. I’m not in agreement with this mentality of just accepting that some things don’t work on your vehicle that is under warranty.
I disagree with the absolute nature of your statement. The OP is clearly concerned about the reliability issues and if the truck has some sort if fault while on the road in a remote area, that is not the fault if the driver. This is the truck.
in my case the truck faulted out somewhere between...
No. It happened the first time I DC charged in Calgary. The truck had only ever been charged on an AC charger at the dealer. They could clear the fault, it would then DC charge again, but then fault again after a random amount of charging. AC charging worked fine, but you’re never going to get...
I just bought a 23 Lariat ER back in May in Calgary and drove it 4,800 kms to. Ova Scotia. Out of the gate it had a DC charging issue that took the dealer almost a month to fix, so I had to delay the trek. While I was waiting for it, I got the NACS to CCS adapter so I could use Tesla stations...
The site says they can generate up to 650 watts. I don’t see how that is possible. If they had 100% coverage on a 4’ x 8’ box they’d still only have an output of ~500 watts. So they’re claiming about 30% great efficiency than the best pv panels on the market today. Based on the images on their...
