  1. Nation's First F-150 Lightning Vehicle-To-Home Grid Support Successful (Operated by Sunrun)

Why would anyone use their 30k-40k battery as a powerwall for the grid? I can see using it as a power wall for your own home, but the grid? EDIT ? I misread the op- I don’t realize it was just for your own home. Also, 4 hours a day = $200/month? Maybe I’m missing something, but that...
  2. Plug-In America Post: The Congressional Review Act and its potential impact on EV tax credits

Elon wants the subsidies to go away, because Tesla is about the only company that would still make ev’s without them. But don’t think that would keep China at bay. How long did it take China to take over the Russian automobile market (I believe over 50% market share)? 2-3 years? With...
  3. You can help with your ProPower! (potential disaster relief group forming)

I think this idea has the best of intentions. We’ve gone through multiple hurricanes in Fort Myers, power has been out from several days to several weeks. That being said, there’s a fair chance most of the trucks being sent to help wouldn't be much help, and, assuming they’d arrive quickly...
  4. Does using pro-power affect battery warranty?

Thanks for the replies, wanted to make sure i wasn’t missing anything in fine print. I believe miles are Fords attempt at measuring usage. Although energy consumed per vehicle will vary due to conditions and use, and kWh’s will vary slightly. I find it curious that all charging cycles, if...
  5. Does using pro-power affect battery warranty?

Just curios. if I’m using pro-power - say an average of 1,200 kWh/month, that’s quite a bit of battery usage unaccounted if Ford warranty is in miles and years.
  6. Electrify America to only allow charging to 85%

It’s a pilot program, at just 10 sites in Southern California. I agree with you on all counts. But this forced courtesy is not a bad thing.
  7. Cell Level Testing of the SK805A (Lightning Cell)

The general feeling of that post is unsettling, coming from someone with technical knowledge and data at their disposal. I know next to nothing in this arena, and in my world, the Delta could refer to any number of things. What does it refer to in this case?
  8. Using a Lightning for swimming pool routes. Yay or nay?

If it’s the lifeblood of your company, reliability is a MAJOR concern. If you have a readily available back-up service vehicle, the Lightning makes a phenomenal choice. Your major concern lies somewhere in the “we don’t know what we don’t know” realm as the entire vehicle has only a 2 year track...
  9. Tremor Wheels on Lightning?

Completely unrelated. A tremor tried to race me from stoplight to stoplight recently. I almost felt sorry for him.
  10. Just took a 450 intersate road trip in a standard range lightning. Never again

My bad. You said 65 For the record-I would challenge your assertion about spacing of interstate chargers doesn’t matter, but it seems we’re getting off on the wrong foot I will have a nice day, and “keep doing me.” Thanks for bringing up my old thread, my son and I still joke about this...
  11. Just took a 450 intersate road trip in a standard range lightning. Never again

Not at all. And I do. I’m glad we at least have common ground. Your suggestion of driving at 60 or less is one of the points of the thread, and why “interstate” is in the thread title, and sparsed throughout the thread. I love the truck, but (as stated several times) it’s a flat out hog on the...
  12. Windshield wipers completely stopped responding.

The thot plickens… We had a downpour. As soon as the windshield got wet, the wipers would work. I don’t have rain sensing wipers Edit: Worth noting the button to squirt fluid and wipe is also non-responsive while they are down. edit 7/11/24. Wipers again non responsive. Now not working in...
  13. Just took a 450 intersate road trip in a standard range lightning. Never again

I’m very happy that the spacing of chargers on your road trip work very well for you. However, the math did not work out for me. That’s something you should have considered before this otherwise well thought out reply. As an engineer, if anything, the charging stops may have been over...
  14. Windshield wipers completely stopped responding.

Wipers stopped working again. Unlike last time they did this, when they started working again after a minute of so, they’re just dead. Issue is no longer intermittent. They wont respond at all. We’ve been getting thunderstorms prettt regularly, looks like I’ll be slapping on some rainx until I...
  15. CEO Jim Farley: Confessions from a Petrol Head

I don’t know if you’re just playing semantics or genuinely believe Jim isn’t suggesting to charge to 100% daily? If 70% if your range is 300 miles, congratulations. But for simplicity’s sake, Jim drives a Platinum, which has an estimated range of 300 miles. He charges 300 miles every night...
  16. CEO Jim Farley: Confessions from a Petrol Head

Ford Lighting FAQ recommends charging to 90% daily https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/electric-vehicles/f-150-lightning/f-150-lightning-charging-frequently-asked-questions/
  17. Range keeps getting better

I charge to 80% daily. My gom estimates once battery reaches 80 SOC seem based on recent driving habits. Depending on how I drive, or conditions, i can manipulate it to display between 160 to 220. The meaning of this? No meaning at all as far as I can tell.
  18. CEO Jim Farley: Confessions from a Petrol Head

By all means. However, and not to hijack the thread (there are a plethora on this subject) I would urge you to do your research about charging to 100% daily unless the range is absolutely necessary, and you plan on keeping the truck a significant amount of time.
