Yeah I had a model 3 for 4 years and the trunk filled with water due to the seal failing, a short in the rear motor killed the 12v repeatedly and had to be taken in twice before they figured it out, required a motor swap. The tires started cupping, they never solved that one. The onboard...
In model 3, which has no AC outlets, people used to get around the 150w limit on the cig lighter by tapping into the heated seats wiring. I wonder if that's a possible route on the lightning for a direct DC source of power?
I usually keep it 50-70% during the week, but charge to ~95% if heading to the Laurel Highlands for the weekend. If I had to guess, even after 8 years, if you are doing things 'wrong', there will be very minimal difference in performance in the end.
I had it replaced twice. It filled with water in late 2022, so I got them to swap it out. The part was later recalled so they had me bring it down again for another replacement to satisfy that. That replacement between did not leak at all.
Yeah, I was planning on winter tires my first year and got lazy and never bought. Been through two winters now and they have been minimal here as you know lately. I do go up Seven Springs pretty often though, haven't had an issue in the stock grabbers yet.
Not a ham but I have been playing with meshtastic stuff lately... A few people have posted the bulletproofdiesel.com third brake light setup. Seems like a good option, though you won't be parking underground or in structures with it.
My 75 Sierra Classic had a dial clock. My grandfather disconnected it at some point to save the car battery before he gifted me the truck, I never reconnected it while I had it.
The sad thing is if Ford does a full refresh of the F-150 lightning I'd guess a from-the-ground-up EV would end up with a smaller frunk. This might end up being the biggest frunk to ever exist.
Mover's blankets are alright for a while but they eventually get torn up, especially if you have a spray-in liner. I've gone through a bunch of them already. I wonder if I can just buy a piece of this bed rug to use when I want it, and roll it up when I don't.
Had some evidence of mice in the bed on mine, but no evidence they were in the cab or font trunk at all. I've got bait traps in my garage now, hopefully I won't see them again.
Don't get me wrong here... I'm in 100% agreement on this. It is just I think it is something that could be done, it isn't some impossible feat. The question is should/will the effort be made? No, heck no. Not worth it.
I'm saying it's 100% possible, not saying it'd be easy. These are two different things, I think the key here is that they won't do it, and we agree on that.
