I debated trying to figure out how to do this as I had BullRings on my 2013 F-150 and they were very useful. But I'm not good at cutting a straight line, and wouldn't go as far as Pascal did, so I simply installed this, which has lots of cleats...
I'll disagree with some of your statements.
The word "subsidize" is too vague. Did they lose money on each Lightning sold, i.e. sold the vehicle for less than the cost to produce it, excluding R&D? I don't think so.
Did they "soldier on" because an administration was breathing down their...
The reason the Insight triggers the brake(sp) lights when the battery is full and you use the paddles is because there is no regen possible when the battery is full, so you are using the brakes themselves. Same is true for the Lightning, it doesn't use regen when battery is full.
When you push...
There are a very few V4 locations. Maybe 1 or 2.
There are some V3 locations with the longer cables. No filter for those.
At the short cable locations, unless there is a bollard, simply nose between two chargers. You occupy 2 spaces exactly as Tesla specifies.
Smart dealers do exactly that - hand you the keys to a demo unit.
When we were considering the Mach-E, took one for a test drive, and my wife was uncertain. GM handed us the demo keys and said "bring it back in 2 days". 2 days later we came back, and bought the one we wanted.

It would never outsell the gas truck...
Lightning uses more aluminum than gas truck.
Lightning is clearly less profitable, and less in demand, therefore shutting it down until aluminum plant is up again at end of year made sense.
So here's my 2 cents:
- You don't need WiFi at all. Your update is downloaded already, you don't need any connection.
- Your 12v is the issue. You haven't disconnected it that I see as recommended. Or, put it on a charger (passenger panel connections) until it's fully charged.
So all this noise about Ford ending the Lightning, much discredited to crappy sources, and then today's WSJ has an editorial about the same issue, and I realized, that since all this started, not a single public "not true" from Jim Farley or Bill Ford or spokesperson, ...
Conclusion - they are...
Why did you take it in vs answering @rugedraw? I suspect had you charged the 12v and removed the battery cable to reboot, you would have been successful.
Too bad you let the warranty lapse. I took both my Mach-E and Lightning in just before the 3 year warranty expired for a free battery test...
Had a 6.5 foot bed for ten years, with an F-150 SuperCab. Would have purchased my Lightning the same way given the choice. 5.5' is too small. Don't need full backseat.
You must be plugged in for the battery to be preconditioned, then the cabin is warmed or cooled.
What did you set the Climate to? Cool, Medium, Warm, or Off?
Are you really departing at 3:10AM?
