I do the same as sstevetx but just with pieces of 1x4 sitting under the door. They go all the way across except for the 3/4" where the cable goes through, so the door sits evenly with no gaps for critters to get in. Originally I thought I'd make a piece with a hole in the round shape of the...
Regen can charge way, way faster than 7 kW. Like 10 or 20 times faster. Flat towing is absolutely doable, maybe illegal but in a pinch I wouldn't hesitate to do it.
I wonder if they'll do some Canada orders at some point. Might end up going out of order if they do a big batch of the first X number of orders from Canada all at once.
While I'm at it I'd like a pony.
If I lived in a hot climate, I'd be keeping the state of charge much lower if possible. 30-50% is better in the heat from what I've read, if that's sufficient for your daily driving.
As always, YMMV. Depends where you're traveling. I did a 9500 km road trip across the western half of Canada using CCS and it went fine. BUT a lot of the CCS chargers are only 50 kW (which means ~45 kW on the Lightning), and there are often only two plugs per small town. Tesla chargers should be...
If they changed it so it will only activate when the steering wheel is (almost) straight ahead that could solve the problem of palming the button during turns, while still leaving the super convenient one touch activation.
Yep. Not even showing the charge rate in kW anywhere is a huge WTF from me too. You can get that with an OBD dongle, but it's pretty annoying Ford's philosophy is to hide any and all technical info. Wouldn't want to confuse Grandpa I guess.
That's some quality app development. LOL
Maybe you could do something with the Accessibility settings - zoom, text size, maybe Voice Over to navigate to some button that's off screen?
If you have an Apple Watch, the watch app shows the time since last update. So the phone app has that information, but just doesn't bother to show it.
It is annoying that Ford's goal seems to be to dumb down their interfaces as much as possible. Heaven forbid they give us detailed information...
I thought usually a clicking when turning at low speed was a problem with a CV joint. Are your CV boots intact? If you get under there can you wiggle any part of the axle with your hand? Or if you jack it up and try and wiggle the wheel while your hand is on the CV joint you should be able to...
Your number appears to be based on the assumption that degradation is linear over time. I'm not sure that is correct. It is more likely a curve of some sort.
Early indications are pretty good for battery lifetime (I believe that; I bought one) but I don't think we can make any projections about...
Yes this all goes out the window on road trips - charge to whatever level you need whenever you need. The point is for daily driving and charging, assuming (as it is for most people) you use much less than the vehicle's total range in your daily driving.
The question to ask is normally whether or not they are available where you will be traveling, not where you live. Assuming you normally charge at home, you only need them on road trips.
Bit off topic but I crossed the Prairies earlier this year and I was AMAZED how much a head wind kills your range. Since I had plenty of time at chargers to think about it ? it does make sense. All the same increase in drag as if you were driving that much faster, but without covering more...
