It stays in recirc if you're in manual mode like others have said.
I can't think of a reason you'd want it on all the time but the truck will handle the controls in auto mode so you don't have to touch anything.
Did you ever receive a letter about the lightbar recall? It's been a while now but I was under the impression it was all of the early models.
Does the Ford website say anything about your vin?
The op is discussing the rear bed camera and not the backup camera.
There have been some heat related failures and some bad camera units. Wiring and connectors is also a possibility.

It's a capacitive touch system. It can be a problem when wet or iced up. To open, you place your hand inside the handle and it unlocks, don't touch the outside button. To lock, push the outside button only. As always, you need a key in proximity.
Do you have a new truck that came with walkway?
For sure it cycles year round. Most manufacturers have the compressor cycle regardless just to keep the system serviceable. If you never spun it up for months at a time then you would see more failures like the good ole days of seized compressors and blown belts.
If it's installed properly with proper connections then there is no need for caulking.
It's 100% an installation issue. Many people, myself included, have them mounted outside.
There is also a gasket on the cover and a torque sequence listed in the install manual.
The technology is mostly for diesel engines that already have a diesel tank and easily accessible coolant loops.
I highly doubt you'd ever see any benefit with a lightning. You'd have to save a lot of kwhs to cover the cost of parts/install/opération.

Lol, that's nothing and you shouldn't damage anything by turning the wheels. My truck is covered for weeks at a time in snow and ice. After 3 winters, I haven't had any ice related problems. You just have to live with the buildup.
