  1. Active Air Dam System Fault

I'm getting this message with increasing frequency and with no major change to outside temps and speeds my efficiency seems to be falling off a bit. Hopefully my dealership knows how to diagnose whether the dam is actually moving reliably.
  2. Parking sensor fault?

Went away on its own and never came back...
  3. Quick question about wire gauge size.

Two #4 will fit in 3/4 EMT and the conduit itself is the ground if it's EMT from end to end, so how does an 80A circuit not fit?
  4. EA charging problems seriously damaging Ford's image

Sorry, if I wanted to feel pressured to act like a fanboy I'd frequent the Tesla forums. The charging providers have telemetry on their stations. They know when they're not working. I said quite clearly I spent a great deal of time on the phone *today* with EA trying to let them know a...
  5. EA charging problems seriously damaging Ford's image

This is relatively new, I think? And good news. Can those of us with free charging balances still remaining use them at EVgo? That would be even better.
  6. EA charging problems seriously damaging Ford's image

Ford very deliberately tied themselves to EA: Only place plug-and-charge "works" Only option for redeeming free charging offered with new vehicles Formerly, only option for discounted charging offered through Ford (withdrawn, rumor has it because EA could not make it work) One of only a few...
  7. EA charging problems seriously damaging Ford's image

I'm standing right now, in some frustration, in the Newburgh NY Wal-Mart. After 6 attempts my truck is finally charging. 3 times previously this week I've rolled up to an EA charger and found most or all handles not working and exchanged views with other Ford customers trying to charge...
  8. Changed to Tremor 18" wheels

Here is the page from the Ford Body Builder's Layout Book. This is the page from the 2023 book and for some reason it shows a lower (1991lbs) rating for the HDPP wheel on the front axle than 2015 when this wheel came into production, but still 170lbs more than all the other non-lightning wheels...
  9. Where to get the Battery coolant to top off reservoir?

Teslas are *not* supposed to do that. Are you sure you don't have a pinhole leak in one of the radiators? Years ago with our 2015 S we saw something similar. The service center have roughly the explanation you just gave. It didn't make sense to me - the cooling system doesn't have any vents...
  10. Systems Integration

Sort-of universal. It won't open a number of doors that the Homelink module on our Model Y has no problem with. On the other hand, we had to buy the Homelink module for the Tesla, while Ford threw theirs in for free.
  11. Hood Deflector?

I would describe the Lightning hood/front design as more "pessimized for aerodynamics" but I bet a deflector would make it even worse... I love my truck and the frunk sure is handy but if they sold an alternate version with a sloped aerodynamic nose and 20+% more range, which I think it might...
  12. Has anyone dealt with Vehi-Ship LLC???

Mine went from MI to NY by truck - to everyone involved's surprise including my dealer, which is a couple of miles from the Selkirk railyard and seldom if ever gets truck shipments from Ford.
  13. Snow Tire Help

The Blizzak LT is a somewhat different beast. I moved mine across from my ICE F150 (remounting them on HDPP wheels since my old winter wheels weren't rated for the Lightning's weight) and they have tread left and are still performing well in their 3rd season. I have been wishing I went with...
  14. Home install help

That part about "there isn't any available amperage to pull off of the main breaker" is the part that doesn't make sense. I am sitting in a 3 story home with a heat pump (30A) as the only source of heat, a hot tub rated at 50A, electric kitchen, washer/dryer, two electric hot water heaters...
  15. Home install help

Is your service entrance shared with another dwelling unit? Is your wiring very old? If not, I think it's important to understand *why* your panel has a 90A main breaker, on a 200A service from the utility. If there is no reason other than the rating of the panel itself - some small/cheap...
  16. Get a Tesla for $7500 off plus 10k SC miles

I've owned Teslas since 2015 - first an S, then a Y. We still have the Y. They're good cars but the company is downright awful to deal with and plainly getting worse. I see people complain about Ford and dealers and I just laugh - Tesla is vastly worse and has spent the past 5 years becoming...
  17. 10% Charge Loss Overnight--portable 120V charging

It was an Energi. I think he had one of the first ones sold - after the 2nd pack replacement he did keep it for another winter with no problems so I guess they must have fixed something, whether software or hardware I don't know. Gets down to 10 or 15 below (F) by us on the coldest nights but...
  18. 10% Charge Loss Overnight--portable 120V charging

Spending substantial time at 100% is bad for the battery. 90% is a pretty good compromise.
  19. 10% Charge Loss Overnight--portable 120V charging

From conversations with multiple people at Ford - not so. Like almost all EVs from reputable manufacturers, the battery management system can burn significant amounts of charge protecting the pack from freezing. It does not have to be 0F outside for this to happen. Ford learned its lesson on...
  20. 10% Charge Loss Overnight--portable 120V charging

The battery heater can draw 10kW, as measured by our friend in Fairbanks during his -40F test drive. So depending how cold it is, using up the 13kWh that's 10% of the total capacity is not out of the question.
